Nice trail to hit near Fort Collins after work or for an easy day hike. Definitely easy enough for a beginner or if you enjoy trail running. There was lots of snow on the trail, but easy to navigate without any spikes. Appreciate the restroom midway which is decently clean.

Fresh snow, severe single track, some post hoping. Makes for a great power run.

This hike is mostly rocky but even after a month of no snow, there are still some icy and muddy parts (north side of hills). Even if there is no wind at the parking lot, there will be at the crest. This hike also has a mixed use of hikers, mtn. bikers, runners and horses and the trail in some places is not very wide and has lots of switch backs that dont provide great visibility so if you hike with headphones, best if you take one out.

Slick and icy on the Northern exposure for about 200 feet, otherwise a touch muddy and beautiful.

01-1-20 got there around 230 pm. full parking lot. lots of people on the trail. was windy and chilly. trail a mix of ice, mud, snow and dry. my group of 3 did it with no traction though. it's always a nice close go to when there is not much time to get away.

12.26.19 - nice, gentle walk for about a mile and then a slight incline for another 1.2 or so up to the ridge. Icy in spots, but my 8 year old and I didn’t have traction and we were fine. Cold morning, started at about 7 and done at 9. The best part of this trail imo is how close it is and it’s rare to be closed. No dogs allowed though.
