I hiked this NOBO, starting at Spring Creek Pass. It was an easy hitch from Lake City to the trailhead. I camped at a really nice area around Mile 3.9 (CT Data Book if you're hiking SOBO) at Middle Mineral Creek. There are a lot of beetle-kill pines in this area, but this site has some more open spots farther away from the dead trees (and was gorgeous!). It was a very scenic section of trail! I wrote a blog post about Segment 21-Segment 18 with more beta. https://www.backpacktheplanet.com/blog/solo-backpacking-in-2018
