Segment 11— Mount Massive Trailhead to Clear Creek Road. The Colorado Trail is a long-distance trail extending for 486 miles from the mouth of Waterton Canyon southwest of Denver to Durango in Colorado.

Trail was great. Free of snow all thru. No joke that the section around the lake is long and hot. Guthook lists the yurt in this area as a water spot but there was no indication that was the case. Once you are the south side there is no shortage of camping spots between the trail and the lake. Refill your water supply here because there’s only about 2-3 good spots to refill again along the way and the last portion of segment 11 is pretty hot as well.

Ran the section from South Elbert Lower Trailhead to Halfmoon Rd and back. Trail was in great shape! Little bit of mud in sections, but nothing terrible. Beautiful Aspen groves and tons of water flowing for the dogs.

Tons of mosquitos in this section. plenty of water. We finished up our hike at Twin Lakes, coming from TN Pass( Seg 9). We summited Mt Elbert too. Hike Mt Elbert EARLY. We started at 5am. AWESOME views at sunrise on Elbert. packs snacks, water and a rain jacket. We slackpacked with granolas, 100 oz water, rain jacket and emergency bivy. Plan for 6-8 hours on Elbert.
