Really pretty trail, beautiful forests and there are views of the mountains in a couple of places. There are a couple of places where you can see Pagosa in the distance with mountains in the background. It is an ATV trail but there was nobody on the trail. We went in November so it was quiet. Somewhat rocky, parts are a steep but easy climb. There is a place where trail loops but it wasn’t marked and we missed it and had to back track. It’s not obvious to turn there for the loop so watch for that or use this app to track your location.

A nice trail with a variety of terrain! A few steep ascents but pretty even mostly.
Not great views of the mountains (even in November) and very few open overlooks. Very pleasant since I love groves of pine trees and shady valleys. Loop was a bit confusing and not always clearly marked. I turned left at one point and ended up on a different trail. The length and the pretty sunset definitely made this worthwhile, but not a hike I feel like I have to do again soon.

On mountain bikes-Rock chop all the way to the top! big climbs, punchy trail with lots of steep sections. The loop is fun and semi flowing in spots. Primarily an ATV trail but had it all to ourselves without a soul in sight. There's an unmarked T in the trail after an open valley - stay left and start gradually climbing. great ride in the fall with lots of shade. Not as bad going down as you would expect. Rode the whole loop in 2.5 hours including photo ops.

We had a good time hiking/running this trail but be prepared for some pretty rocky sections (more often than not). Pretty good ups and downs. We didn’t see any other folks but it was the day the forest reopened after being closed for a couple of weeks. ATV’s are allowed but I wouldn’t recommend due to extremely uneven spots making it difficult to ride safely.

Hiked in only 2 miles, up to where you get to the fork in the trail for the beginning of the loop. It took me 1 hr 45min to get to that point. It’s a steady ascent with several places of rocky, uneven terrain. Easy to roll an ankle if you’re not careful. Keep your eye out for the view because you might miss it if you don’t!

Very nice trail, although I only had time to do the first 1.5 miles of it. Nice views, but there were a lot of bugs on the trail. Really enjoyed the hike.
