Great trail system for all ability levels of riders and hikers/runner. There are several trails in the system that can be combined for a very decent ride. fast flowing trails with gradual climbs. This system is great for beginners, those that are experienced will be able to push hard and make it what they want out of it. Be wary of wildlife, there have been several sightings of mountain lions in the area. The visitor center is the best place to check in to see the recent activity. Also you will either need a daily pass which is $7 (per person) or a yearly pass that is $70. there is one loop hole, as long as you park outside of the park and ride you bike or walk in, you do not have to pay. Best parking for this is right outside Fort Carson's Gate 1.

Nice hike. Pretty good overview of CMP. Snowed a couple of days ago and a bit muddy in a some spots (as to be expected). Good time to hike some of CMP meadow offerings as it was not too hot.

Took this trail counter clockwise on Sunday morning of Labor Day weekend. Hardly anyone else parked in the lot upon my arrival. The way up the trail is mostly scrub foothill bushes and as you go higher on the trail you get into the pines which was much more scenic to hike. It was a little busier closer to the campgrounds. Saw a few mountain bikers on the back half of the trail along with a few Mule Deer. Good views of Cheyenne Mountain along the way. Lots of intersecting trails and I needed to use the alltrails map that I downloaded to stay on the right trail.

Nice trail system that was slightly muddy in sever sections. Be aware there can be bears, cougars, etc. A bear was spotted near the campground the day before we arrived.

Have to pay to get into the park, NOT parking, unless you are disabled or have DV plates, you then get in for free. They also have a static and walk and shoot archery range. Lots of wildlife and great for birders. Awesome mountain views and enough trails to keep you busy for most of the day. Take LOTS of water and head gear as many of the trails are not shaded.

Very fun trails. I love how each trail connects to the next trail and is clearly marked. The system is so easy I was able to allow my 8 year old son navigate our adventure. The financial cost of the trip was unexpected. I neglected to notice the paid parking sign and was promptly slammed with a $27 parking fine for my 2 hour bike ride. Park officer McClark kindly explained that I was fortunate my fine was not $50 for my terrible crime of parking.

Cheyenne Mountain State Park. Trails: Raccoon ridge, a bit of boulder run, and a bit of blackmer loop. Trail doesn't feel 'out in nature' as some other parks like north Cheyenne Canyon (crosses paved roadways and gets near camp camp sites multiple times) but trails are not at all crowded and we did see wildlife while hiking, including mule deer about 20' from the trail. Not at a high of elevation and trails are easy to barely moderate. Lots of pine and scrub brush. Kids had fun. We had to call it quits for rain coming off the mountain. $7 feels like a waste unless you can hike most of the trails. I'm probably going to purchase the $70 annual pass. But it also covers ALL of Colorado's state parks. I'd recommend this park for hikers sick of seeing dog poop and too many people. Also great for little kids as it's fairly easy.

Lots of options here. Great for a quick hike or longer part of day. Great proximity for local hiking. Love the plaques with description of flora, learned a lot by stopping and reading.

Only rode part of this system today, but if the rest of the trails are like the ones I rode, then it's gonna be great. Do watch for horse traffic. That sucks, but it is what it is.

Trails are marked and well maintained. Great place to take the kids for easy hikes. Not my favorite park though. Kind of hard to feel like you are really out of the city.

We took the Talons trail and a bit of Sundance. Very hot and mostly in the sun. Trails were easy to follow with good markers. Some pretty views looking east, but there are prettier areas

Pretty decent place for a day hike. Lots of trails for the casual hiker or anyone who's looking to go do the some "Relaxed" camping.

The trails here are VERY well marked. This is a great place to go hiking when you are wanting little elevation gain. We went on a day the weather had the potential of turning bad and got in a great several hour hike by taking shorter trails to get to longer trails. Not very difficult at all, but a nice hike for a mellower day.

Lots of day hikes available at Cheyenne Mountain State Park. Early morning hikes, or late afternoon hikes are the best if you need to beat the heat. Great opportunities to see wildlife and wild flowers. North and South Talon are a favorite.

The trail is in great shape, but will probably be much better in the fall or winter. It has trees around it, but it was VERY hot and there was not much breeze. It is good for seeing wildflowers and for little ones to walk.
