Soooo pretty! Spikes were helpful today, especially for the first part from the parking lot until the actual canyon.
We walked on the upper/higher trail on the way out and did a zigzag on the way back so we could get closer to the river. Spikes weren't necessary but we did slip and slide down a rock face while exploring a smaller less traveled trail. Most people using this area are there to fish. Highly recommend as the views are wonderful.
loved it, not very crowded, peaceful hike along the water. some spots were slick but most of it was done without crampons.
Great hike! A little slick at times. I through on spikes as thr ice started to melt later in the day
Arrived a little after noon and there were still a few spots in the parking lot. No fees for parking. Trail was easy to find, and was well packed by those that went before us. Started out without spikes, but ended up putting them on after only a few minutes. Could probably have continued without them, but felt a bit safer with them on. This was a good hike for young kids. Nothing too scenic, but nice to be out in the woods for a while. Saw quite a few fishermen along the trail, which isn't surprising given its location along a gold medal stream. Will definitely come back to this one; although maybe a bit earlier next time because the sun disappeared behind the hills shortly after 3 PM.
11/28/20 – Beautiful hike in a canyon along a river. Not too difficult with a combination of shaded and sun-exposed areas. Parking was limited on a Saturday afternoon, mostly populated with anglers.
