Cataract Lake Trail is a 8.1 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Lake City, Colorado that features a lake and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is best used from June until August. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Directions from Lake City: Take Highway 149 south two miles and turn right on the Cinnamon Pass Road (County Road 30) toward Lake San Cristobal. Continue on the Cinnamon Pass Road to the Sherman townsite fork, taking the left fork (County Road 18X) to Sherman. The trailhead is approximately one half mile after the bridge and is marked.

First off you have to cross a large creek. To get across you have to walk along a long log. My dogs and wife would not go across. After that you have a lot of small water falls until you get to the top to see the lake, Wide open on top and if you want to camp plenty of room.2001 Sept.17-27
