Great for families. Did it with an age range from 5-60. Just bring lots of water. It does get a little long so we stopped a few times.

We picked this for our first RMNP hike as a way to get acclimatized to the 8500 ft elevation. It served its purpose. Relatively flat. Very popular hike. We saw a small crowd gathered watching 2 moose. There may be more wildlife if there were not as many people on the trail. The waterfall was nice. Refreshing to finally sit in the shade for lunch by the waterfall. Otherwise the path does not have much shade. Remember sunscreen, hat and sunglasses.

This was a great hike. Lots of ups but downs too. The falls are beautiful! Plenty of places to stop and rest or have a snack/water break. We saw moose, deer and marmots. Our kids ranged from 7-15 and were all able to do this hike at varying paces. Made for a fun day!

We had a great hike to the falls despite rain and small hail. The falls were beautiful but it seemed like it took forever to reach them. On the way back we saw 3 moose including a calf plus deer. The moose definitely were the best part of the hike. We have been hiking in northern Minnesota and never could find one!

this was a very enjoyable trail. we saw a moose, deer, and other wildlife. it was a little long for some in our party, but those that made it to the falls said it was worth it.

Great hike! The hike was not too long but a nice couple of hours. I would rate it as moderate, but it would probably be easy for locals accustomed to the altitude. We saw several deer as well as a moose and her calf!

Great easy/ moderate hike! The waterfall was beautiful! Saw 4 moose all together, 2 bull moose on the way up and a mama and calf on the way down! Definitely recommend!

This is an easy to moderate hike. The creek and the meadow are beautiful and postcard worthy. We hiked in the middle of the day and saw no wildlife unfortunately. The falls are beautiful and worth the distance.

Did this hike on 7/2. Got to trailhead at 9:15a, we were 12th car to park so if you’re looking for a trail with no people this isn’t it. That said, beautiful views, moderate distance, little elevation, and waterfalls are worth it all. Saw 7 moose in total, 3 on way out, 4 on way back. Did whole thing with group of 4 (two kids age 9 and 7) in about 3.5 hours with about 20-30min for lunch at waterfall area. And a day after we did Twin Cones! Pretty bushed by end but two great hikes over two days.

Beautiful hike and so much to see along the way! We saw two moose within the first 20 minutes of the hike. There is a gradual incline to the hike in a few spots. You go along a river for quite awhile and it is gorgeous. Cascade Falls at the end is breathtaking. Lots of great spots to have a snack or dip your feet in.

Beautiful and easy hike. Left trailhead at 09:30. Plenty of people out there today. Saw both male and female moose just on the other side of the river.

Did this hike May 25th to Cascade Falls and back. So much wildlife, and the falls are flowing stronger than I've ever seen before. Saw several moose, dozens of elk, some mulies, a coyote, and caught some brook trout. There's always so much wildlife on the west side. No snow whatsoever at this point.

Great hike with a lot of diversity–you start our in a meadow with a river running through and then wind through the woods with scenic outlooks along the way. We spotted some moose, a marmot, a fresh bear track, (and droppings!) and lots of birds. The falls are impressive and there are some big rocks to sit on an rest before you head back. This trail took us 3 hours (1.5 to the falls and we sat for about 15 minutes).

Great trail and we saw quite a few kids ( ages 7 or 8) making the hike. We did this hike in tennis shoes and it was fine. It took about 1hour and 45 minutes to get to the falls. The first 30 minutes are flat and wide and picturesque...and a good warm up for the remaining hike. Trail starts with a parallel to a private fenced ranch and we saw 3 horses. Then the trail follows the river through a grassy meadow area and then into the mountains.
