Arrived early enough in the season to be the only hikers on the trail. Also, no boaters in sight just a few people fishing on the banks. Pretty easy/moderate hike with lots of rocks but great views. Dogs will love this one too!

Fairly easy hike but the terrain is rocky.

This was a very pretty trail to walk. It had very little elevation change, parallels the lake the whole time, and I only saw a few others on the trail. Very enjoyable!

This is a beautiful hiking trail! I would not recommend it for trail running however. It is a very rocky path about 75% of the way. Yay hiking/nay running.

Easy, early season hike. Not as many people as I was expecting there to be.

Super easy hike. Saw tons of wild turkeys, deer and no people. It was great day!

We walked the length of the Sundance Trail (north to south end of the Reservoir and back) many people are commenting this this trail is harder than expected. To be clear - the trail is mostly level but definitely has lots of elevation change, especially as you pass the inlets. There is some loose rock and LOTS of embedded rock. You need to treat this as an actual hike and not just a walk in the park. Wear sturdy shoes and be ready for some hills, and you will be prepared.

MODERATE hike due to terrain, but still nice and very enjoyable. Gotta pay to park if you don't have the pass. Worth it.

Not a "hike" in the traditional sense. Don't expect solitude or tranquility. It's a 3-mile out-and-back path with some loose rock and hills that circles a heavily populated reservoir. We could hear (and see) boaters with their music blaring and people partying the entire time. No thanks.

Rates as "easy". Not. More like moderate or above!
Loose shale rock makes footing unstable, especially with two Labradors! Some steep drop-offs and poorly marked trail. Upside is beautiful scenery and a great place for dogs to swim about 1/3 way in.

This trail is rated as easy. It hikes more like a moderate. The constant elevation change and loose rocks were demanding and tiring. Since we hiked mid week we were alone on the trail.

I like this trail, but be ready, its not easy. its not super difficult, but the climbing and scrambling over ledges is very tiring, and the long, trail climbs are very tasking as well.. we went on a Wednesday afternoon, and we were the only ones on the trail, that was nice!

Very crowded, no views of the mountains. Follows Carter Lake parking lot to parking lot. So no view at the end that makes it worth it!

VERY pretty lake, the trail parallels the lake the whole way. Plenty of places to swim. The trail gets VERY busy in the summer months, if you space out and get past the first half mile it gets pretty isolated. Crumbly shale shelves make up the majority of the foot path.

It's a decent trail that you'll want to do early before the boaters come out. I'd do it again.

Note: there is a park fee of $7 per car; it is primarily a recreation area for boats and horses. Nice and shady, and fairly flat, if rocky. We were on the south end, there, you have to walk through the camp sites to get to the trail. Lots of rocks for small kids to throw in the lake.
