Carson Lake Trail is a 1 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Mesa, Colorado that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from June until November. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Directions from Grand Junction: Take Hwy 70 east to Hwy 65 south. Take Rim Drive Road Southwest for three miles to Carson Lake road. Carson Lake is two miles down the road. The trail begins across the dam to the south.

First to Review

The first part of the trail is nice as it follows along the lake. After the brush gets between you and the lake you’re essentially walking on a service road just to get the verified blue check mark for the trail. We did see 2 bear cubs while driving to the trailhead so be aware there are bears in the area
