Snow made for some added difficulty. The trail is packed down pretty good a lot of the way. Probably would want micro spikes...at some point you lose the beaten path and I switched to snow shoes there. Very pretty. I went early in the morning so saw the sun come light up the mountains. I feel like the woods block some of the view, but all around good hike.
Snow made a challenge but otherwise was a nice hike up to a pretty view. There’s a bench about halfway up which is worth getting to. We do not get to go beyond. We saw a fox which was cool!
1/9/21 1pm Exquisite really. I had the whole place to myself. Beautiful snow, trees, quiet and a magnificent mountain view behind you on the way up. There’s a handmade bench in a great spot to take in that view. It’s marked Colorado Trail and is across the road from a sizable, shoulder parking area. It looks like two people and a dog helped keep the trail marked and tamped down a bit. If you want to snowshoe I would bring them with you for the first half mile or so. YakTrax and hiking polls will definitely help on the way back - all down hill. Enjoy!
Super beautiful and full of pow. We brought yak trax and we’re fine but others may want snowshoes
Hiked on Friday morning, 11/5/20. We started at about 6:45am and didn’t see anyone else the entire hike! The “end” of the trail is pretty anticlimactic, no real lookout or anything but the views along the way are just lovely. Might not recommend this as a hike for a visitor in Breck given there are plenty of more impressive ones, but if you’re local this is a nice little workout and has some nice panoramic views! Also, there was virtually no snow/ice left, just a few mildly slippery spots at the very beginning. My dog and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Steeper than we anticipated but very nice that we can get to it from the house
Did this hike with my parents who like to go at a slow to moderate pace. They loved it. Some relatively steep uphills in the first mile then a meadow for about a half mile. Despite no insane views, beautiful wildflowers and glimpses of Breck. Lovely hike will come back!
Was a nice local hike, got a sweat, beautiful wildflowers, and no people!
Moderate hike. Beautiful meadow and pretty view of mountains and Breckinridge. Saw a mother and baby moose in the meadow. Slightly boring after you hit the meadow, some decent views of mountains.
Nice trail if you want something fairly short with not a lot of people. Plus if you’re staying at Tiger Run Resort you don’t even gave to drive to it.
Loved this short trail other than the fact that there is no view at the top. After the first climb you arrive at the meadows and it flattens out and is very pleasant. The second climb to the top leads to nothing but the trail continues. We sat on some logs and had a snack. Took about 1 1/2 hours.
Beautiful trail. Wildflowers, myriad butterflies, and shady spots along the way. The last third of the hike is the steepest. About two-thirds of the way down, stop and cop a squat at the man made bench someone crafted out of a tree stump. Wonderful hike on a beautiful blue bird day!
Location on directions to get to trail head was incorrect. We parked by the clubhouse and walked to the trail head that had a small sign that said “trail open” between two cabins. Very steep and rigorous before and after the meadow. Views were beautiful and lots of wild flowers lining the trail and river at the beginning. Definitely on the strenuous side of moderate.
