Nice easy trail. All down hill on the way in—and all uphill on the way back

Note that the hike starts at the campground! This trail started off our vacation in Colorado and it was great! Just enough of a challenge on the way home-all uphill. Tool us about 1 1/2 hours round trip with our dogs. Saw lovely wildflower meadow and historic cabin on the hike, and many birds. Very enjoyable!

We wanted to see fall colors, ranger recommended to stop at panarom point then head to riflemen trail trail head to buffalo trail to forgotten valley since horseshoe was very popular and crowded and because of the wind the leaves were falling rapidly. The view at panarom point was amazing great photos. The wind got gradually harded and the colors were decent. But because of the cold and wind it wasn't at peak anymore. We took our time stopped to take in views and pictures. so it took about 2 hours from the trail head to buffallo, to mountain lion trail, back to buffalo. We enjoyed it alot, highly recommended, easy hike.
