The initial trail is steep, but levels off as you travail across the mountain. Our dog was happy for the tree line and the small, running mountain river. Not much to look at as you make your way to the summit, but stunning views of the area surrounded by nearby peaks. We stopped at Vista Haus (no service) to eat a snack before heading down. Took 2 hrs 45 min.

Steep! Well marked. Made it to the ski patrol house at ~12,100 and called it a day. Ran into storms on route down.

Trail starts right behind the Lodge. Pretty much at the ski lift. At the beginning there is other trails throughout that connect and overlap. So def pay attention to where your headed. The incline is no joke. Must be ready for this. Also loose rock for most of the last half of trail. Easily turn an ankle or much worse. But going up a 13er is already a risk. Great views throughout the whole trail. You are able to see the top from pretty much every part of the trail. Spectacular! Not very cold but the wind will def get ya if your not prepared. i wore hiking pants and a tshirt along with a sweater i was able to take on and off during the hike. Where a neck gater when the wind picks up to keep your face warm. Not much shade either. Very serious climb and not to be taken lightly.

It was a neat trail. I prefer more woods but it’s there were several switchbacks into the trees. Lovely morning!

If you ski Breckenridge, doing this trail in the summer is a must. (September 7) It is really cool to see the ski trails from a different perspective (warm, dry, green). The hardest part was figuring out how to get the car through the hidden road in the parking lot at the base of the hill. We drove 6 miles up before parking and walking the rest of the way.

As a non-hiking family, this was tough, but worth it. My wife and I went with our 5 kids aged 5-21. I splurged for the Colorado Superchair Lift Tickets and was glad I did. The hike from the lift station to summit and back still took us about 5 hours and wiped us out. Actually my 5 year old and I only made it to 12,300, and he couldn’t go any further, so we turned back while the rest of the family completed the summit. Beautiful views even if you don’t summit. Some tips: Take lots of water, grab a hiking stick at the bottom (very helpful especially on the way down), bring layers of clothes as it got chilly. There is currently new service road construction, so there was no clear path at the beginning. We just followed the service road until we found the path, but the service road was a tough climb due to the loose rocks. The path was better once we found it. Still a great experience my family won’t forget!

We hiked this on a Sunday in July. Three kids and for adults ranging in age from 4 to 74. We basically started at the bottom of peak eight on the Springmeier run if you're familiar with Breckenridge. We did not take the chairlift up ($16 per person!) We hiked up from the base of peak 8 to the area where the Imperial chairlift is. The hike up is steep if you go straight up or you can follow the bike path which is much longer with lots of switchbacks. At the top as you approach the summit, the last mile or so was very steep on a wide trail. This is a great cardiovascular workout! There are beautiful views at the top and a tiny pond with runoff snow.
