Bolam Pass via East Fork Trail is a 12.9 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Cahone, Colorado that features a river and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking and walking and is best used from June until September.
This trail starts at Lizard Head Pass and climbs for 6 miles to Bolam Pass and the Colorado Trail. It can be done as an out and back, or it can be used to access the Colorado Trail. Open to hiking, mountain biking, dirt biking, and horse back riding.
This trail climbs through a beautiful forest, following the East Fork of the Dolores River. After 6 miles, you reach Bolam Pass and the Colorado Trail. Turn around here, or pick up the Colorado Trail to continue on towards Durango. The view on this trail are not amazing because of the dense forest. However, the trail crosses several spectacular meadows with excellent wildflower viewing opportunities.
