Hiked in August 2017. One of my all time favorites!

By far one of the best hikes I have done in CO. The views, the solo trek (saw very few people on the trail heading up), the marmots, the sound of the lake with just enough wind, it was perfect. I arrived to park at 7:00am and it seemed as though any later would have maybe not guaranteed a spot. Highly suggest this trail!

Very nice hike which was perfect for a hot day in Denver. Shaded a lot of the way, and a perfect temperature. Wonderful variety forest, flowers, stream, waterfalls, meadows, snow, and finally beautiful lakes. Although the hike is uphill the grade is mostly gradual. First mile or so the trail is rocky and a little less comfortable, but the weekend crowd and trail smooths after that. Also tons of Aspen in the first few miles, so would be a nice fall hike as well.

Great hike. Hard towards the end but well worth the long journey. Didn't see anyone after going onto the Kings lake trail.

This hike offers a little bit of everything. It has Aspen trees in the beginning that had all turned yellow. There is a creek running near the trail for the beginning portion. As you continue you have a view of Rollins Pass for a majority of the hike and the scenery is beautiful. At the top it gets steeper, but what you find at the top is amazing. The trail splits at the top of the switchbacks. You can go one way to King's Lake and another way to Betty and Bob's Lakes. It was so peaceful at the top and there was no one else who was there for the entire hour or so that we sat at Betty's Lake. Our dog loved swimming in the lakes!

It was a good workout and very rewarding. I highly recommend it. Get to the trailhead early. It is off the Hessie Trailhead which is very busy. There is parking on the side of the road which fills up. You can continue left when the road splits, but you MUST have 4 wheel drive. The beginning of the trail was busy, but once you branch off on King's Lake Trail (leading up to Betty & Bob) we only saw a few people.

This is one of my favorite hikes in Colorado. It's rarely crowded, and the scenery is simply breath taking. Well behaved dogs can be off leash.
