Follow the directions below to the trail head. The ranch near the trail head posts LOTS of signs stating "private property" and "do not enter", know that it is a public trail and just keep going on the trail. When you get to the first gate that actually CROSSES the trail (ranch gate) you need to actually go through that gate. (Close the gate behind you of course.) Do not take the path to the inside at the gate. From there, just follow the trail onward.

we followed the directions posted below and they were necessary! we parked at the gate and walked in for about a half mile on the dirt road...don't turn back, there will be a sign or 2 directing you to continue on the trail. It does finally turn into a pretty trail and meets up with the rio a few times. we only made it in a few miles cause of our little dog. great hike and saw only one group.

My dogs and me went in just till we reached Oil Creek. Deer and turkey along the way. getting to this trail isn't totally obvious. Go in abt 12 miles on Blanco Basin Rd. after a bridge turn left at the Hare Ranch sign. there aren't ANY signs indicating the trail, but it is back there... drive a little ways back aprox .5 mi to a parking area. then you'll walk down the road about 100 yards or so you'll finally get to a gate and the trailhead sign will be there "Blanco River Trail 573" the rest is self explanatory.
