This trail is ideal for exploring the northwestern suburbs of Denver. It runs all the way from Standley Lake in the west to I-25 in the east. Parts of the trail are concrete and the rest is gravel. The whole trail is incredibly level and makes a great family outing since it is superb for pulling a bike trailer or tagalong. Wildlife viewing on the trail includes gophers, coyotes, and numerous bird species with an especially large population of hawks. One of the distinctively inviting features of this trail is the number of connector trails that feed into it. One of the longest and favorite trails to explore off of the Big Dry Creek Trail is the Farmers Highline Canal Trail. Although the abundance of side trails is a bonus feature of the trail, it can also be a bit of a problem. Many people have gotten off the beaten path on their first visit to Big Dry Creek Trail. It's easy to do. Fortunately, the path is fairly well marked, but it's important to pay attention to the signs on your first visit.

Just not an exciting trail for me.

Concrete running hurts my feet, so the gravel sidetrail works! Heavily trafficked during peak hours, but lots of nature along the way.

Entire length of trail is now paved with gravel running path on side.

this Trail is great and long for casual rides, just try to make sure that you stay on the correct path. you'll end up heading through a neighborhood which is kind of boring so try to stay on the marked unpaved Trail

Not a bad little stroll. Easy walk and connects to many of the other trails in the area. It’s great for a dog walk or just to get out for some fresh air without a substantial hike. Saw a coyote on the trail in the morning. Make sure you read the signs on what to do if you encounter one.

This is one of my favorite places for a longer run. The scenery changes a lot along the way keeping it interesting.

It was a great scenic trail, a little windy on the day I went with my dog. A great experience though. Very easy all skill levels appropriate.

This trail ran directly behind my old house near Standley Lake and I used to hike it all the time. It's not really a "hike" more of just a walk in the park type trail running behind houses, schools, and some open spaces.

Provides a nice network of trails. Overall, relatively flat with a few rolling hills.

Well-maintained generally though sometimes the path is very muddy or cracked from heavy rainfall or snowmelt. We've walked nearly all the different sections with our dogs and have been using the trail regularly for running. Beautiful views and lots of wildlife. We've seen hawks, magpies, bald eagles, prairie dogs, and even a random coyote or two! The only downside is the lack of shade--wear a hat and lots of sunscreen!

I enjoyed biking up to Standley Lake. The open space offered concrete and gravel trails. They were steep at times and you could ride 25 miles and remain on the trail. Made for a good workout with plenty of nice views.

A decent flat winding course that does not really offer too much difficulty. This is a huge trail that runs all the way up, down, and around Westminster parts of it are fun other parts to seem like a freeway to get to wherever you're going. If you are biking you can really get around this area very quickly there are lots of water to go over and overall it is very pleasant with lots of parks and stops all along the way.

Great ride! Started at Metzker farm, and rode through to Stanley lake. Great break in ride for the beginning of the season.

Had a great time on this trail although it was busy with other riders, walkers, runners and dogs. Great dirt/path combinations. Would not suggest picking up the trail head where the directions take you, we ended up in a residential neighborhood. I would suggest parking near the hotels that are right there; la Quinta, Drury inn, Marriott. All in all it was a great beginner trail with slight hills and mostly flat path.

Biked this trail from Bradburn neighborhood to Stanley Lake. It was about a 15 mile ride, including riding to the visitors center at the lake. There are eagles nesting at the park so you are unable to ride around the lake. The visitors center has telescopes set up. We saw the mama eagle and her babies nesting. Awesome. Susan did a great job learning how to ride with her new bike shoes. Only fell twice before figuring out how to unclip her shoes when stopping. Two scrapped knees. We were fortunate to be on the trail on a Thursday morning. We had the trail mostly to ourselves.
