Beautiful. A more panoramic view of the Continental Divide, whereas some of the more popular lake loops up the road are a bit closer to the mountains. This is relatively easy with great views.

This is a beautiful trail. I added on the loop around the lake, and I think that’s a great addition. It gives you the opportunity to see the lake from the other side! The vista on the south side of the lake is great. You can see the peaks in the background. The trail was entirely dry, except for the parts immediately next to the lake (which were wet from lake water). There is a little bit of residual snow near the end of the trail, but it’ll probably be gone soon.

Hiked trail on 5/28/20. Switchbacks are in excellent shape - dry and clean. A tiny bit wet and very small patches of slushy snow around the lake while in the shade but nothing that hiking boots cannot handle. Excellent conditions for this time of year. Beautiful hike.

Hike was awesome! Had my wife who is 8 months pregnant with me and it was manageable with plenty of breaks along the way.

Trail is in great winter condition. Some ice but mostly packed snow, and I was good with spikes the whole way. Steep at the beginning and towards the end.

When the park and ride line is too long, don’t let that ruin your day take this very rocky trail to the lake with some great views.

Fun hike with many opportunities to see wildlife. Our group consisted of 5 adults, a 3 year old and 2 infants. Parts of the trail were very steep. It was very worthwhile as the lake and mountain views were stunning. After having my ankle fused last year, some of the steep terrain was a bit challenging.

Trail itself offered mediocre scenery through thick woods. Footing was rocky at times and moderately steep in some sections but well kept and very doable. A short but decent workout with moderate grades, and a good way to avoid the Bear Lake crowd. Bierstadt Lake was pretty with great scenery. We continued on to Bear Lake and Nymph Lake (both super crowded on a Wednesday) then caught the shuttle back to the park n ride for a decent, easy 5 mile hike.

Beautiful hike! Nice and shady. It was much easier starting at Bear Lake and going mostly downhill. We had a four year old with us and so it was doable going that direction with her. There are some rocky parts. Not too many people on the trail.

This trail is wonderful!!! Reaching the top and taking in the view with the lake is something to relish. The trail was clean and well keep. Arrive early early in the morning to beat the crowds.

Great way to skip the crowds at Bear Lake

Great hike! We were originally planning on hiking around Bear Lake but the lot was full and we didn’t want to take the shuttle. Steady incline the entire way with a wonderful lake/Mountain View at the end. Pack a lunch and stay a while. We even saw a moose searching for food through the lake!

Took the trail from the park and ride up to the lake and back down to the Bierstadt TH. The climb up was steep but the lake view at the top was great.

Mostly uphill with one particularly steep section. So worth it though. The lake is stunning!

Trail was snow free, just a little bit of snow by the lake. Trail is rocky but in good condition, no traction was needed and trail was dry with just a bit of mud by the lake. Beautiful view at the lake and great hike!

Still very snow covered so only made it half way. Beautiful and peaceful.

Great hike. The trail does not go directly to the water, at least not that we could see through the snow. Snow was 2-3’ deep on average at the top of the ridge, with a few spots probably worse. Snow shoes definitely recommended - you can rent them in town very cheap. Didn’t need micro spikes but I presume if you had them they’d at least help.

We were aiming for emeralnd lake, but the lot was full, so we tried this one instead. So pretty!! Spikes definitly helped, though not necessary. A little steep in parts, but overall great hike. Would recommend!

The majority of the trail was about a 1 foot wide with about a 2-3 feet trough of snow in either side. One misstep and you are up to you kneecap in snow. Other than that, beautiful trail.

Microspikes if you stayed on the packed snow, but snowshoes if you stepped a foot off. Can easily be up to your knees in snow around the lake. Good to get outside and play.
