Very easy to follow and well marked. It was rainy and snowy when we hiked on Sunday (2 days ago) but easy to follow. The pines around the lake smell great and offered some protection against the wind and elements. Had kids ages 15, 13, and 10 and all had fun.

Lovely easy hike with beautiful views on the way up and down. We saw a female moose in the lake which was a plus!

even though it was a very busy day at the park, this trail was very quiet! (I didn't see one other person until I was at the lake) the fall aspens are in full peak right now and hiking up the mountain zigzagging through the groves was absolutely stellar!!

STEEP! For the first mile or so. Saw a moose feeding in the lake. Not crowded.

Headed up this trail early on 9/30. Beautiful hike and there was not a breath of wind so we got some excellent pictures of the mountain reflections in the water. Saw one deer on the far side of the lake.

Almost skipped this one, but so glad we didn’t. Steep climb at the start, lots of switchbacks, but the views and fall colors were spectacular. The lake was serene with hardly anyone there. Perfect fall hike

Fall colors were perfect today. Just a small number of fellow hikers. Started trail around 9am finished at noon and took our time. Saw Moose Mamma and baby on the trail. Very cool but also too close for comfort.

I started in the dark and finished in the sun. Fall colors are in full display! Had the lake all to myself for 20 min this morning. Perfection.

Nice trail. Like the other reviewers, we found the first mile or so to have some elevation gain, but very doable. We noted a couple others across the lake, but otherwise had this spot to ourselves (except for a bull moose at the NW shore) on Saturday 09/20.

A hidden gem of RMNP! We went around 3pm and had the trail practically to ourselves. The first mile is pretty much uphill, but such beautiful scenery. Once we arrived to the lake we were met with stunning views as well as a moose just chilling out in the lake. There was only one other person there when we arrived. This was the most peaceful and serene place I’ve been. Just beautiful and I’m so glad I was able to experience this. I’d say skip the crowds at bear lake and do this trial instead.

Very beautiful on the way up. Got up there early enough to catch the sunrise. The breeze coming off the lake was a bit chilly but overall very easy small hike.

The first mile is challenging, with a steady incline and lots of switchbacks. The views are awesome along the way but be sure to wear sunblock, as it's entirely exposed to the hot sun. Once at the top, the trail moves through a dense forest with lots of shade. Be sure to take the marked side trail down to the lake... the view is spectacular!

Really enjoyed this hike! Several parking spaces available around 8am. Incline wasn't too bad, I'm estimating 6-8 switchbacks, could be less. The view of Longs to Hallett on the ascent was amazing with a dusting of snow on the peaks. At the top of the trail, heading towards the lake, the walk through a forest with a little snow was really cool. The trail was a little muddy in spots. At the lake, it was an amazing sight, blue water, green pines, withe peaks and Colorado sky. Wasn't too crowded at all. The loop was easy and beautiful. I'll do this one again.
