If you do this hike while the gondola is running, you can chose to skip either the uphill or downhill portions of the hike by taking the gondola. However, the hike is an enjoyable out and back as well.

Really nice trail until the mud and snow forced me off track and on to a road that also eventually ended in snow and mud... preventing summit. I suppose there’s a reason most trails in Vail don’t open until mid June (sigh)

Hard but lovely trail. We started a hike from the village up to the top - to the gondola station, no gondolas running at that time so we decided to hike back down. Hiking in autumn time is great as it’s not crowded. We only met very few people along the trail. Loads of wildlife - birds, bees, squirrels , etc. Temperature at that time of the year was just right. Don’t forget to bring plenty of water with you.

Challenging trail, but only because it requires endurance & patience. Went on a gorgeous July day, and proposed to my wife there!!!

We just did it 2 days after the snow storm, in some places a lot of snow and in others just a lot of mud, not well signed at this time , a lot of construction equipment in some areas, was very hard during descent, very slippery due snow , however it was beautiful and worth it

Hiked with my husband. We really enjoyed it but couldn’t get to the top. We missed our path. Had to spend 30 minutes to figure our way back to the trail.

Great hike and perfect weather...nice fall colors as I would call the aspen at “early peak” today.. We hiked up and took the gondola down for what it’s worth. Note the trail is really a bit over 3.5 miles not 3.1 as measured gondola station to station (officially this trail ends 0.3 miles before the upper gondola station, and an extra “jig” near the top due to construction probably accounts for the rest). Highly recommended. Unlike some other reviewers here, I thought the trail was very clearly marked at many points along the way.

I only did about 1/3 of trail. The start of trail is under construction but the trail isn’t hard to find. Since there are multiple trials close together I did take the wrong one but got back on track shortly. Very pretty trees in the fall color change. Will do all of the trail when I have time.

Great trail to do. The aspens are just starting to turn yellow. Several streams that our dog could get a drink. Mostly shaded but steep pitches in some parts. Had a beer and a breakfast burrito at the summit. What could be better than that?

Not a bad trail. Lots of active construction equipment and most definitely does not have an “isolated” feeling as you will also cross several roads. Quite a grueling climb, but satisfying when you reach the top. Cool activities at the top and if the gondolas are running you can half this hike by riding down.

Nice trail, good workout. Not for folks looking for quiet solitude. Adventure park at the top was a bit much. But the views are beautiful!

Relatively tough trail with great views. Did it in just over two hours a day after landing in Colorado. Gondola down is fun. Also meets up with strawberry lane if you choose to start from Vail Village

Love this trail! The app says the trail is 4 miles RT; however, the trail is about 3.4 miles up, give or take (6.8 miles RT). Super convenient to take the Gondola back down to Lionshead. Next time my plan is to hike, Gondola down, and repeat! Love the elevation gain!

Berrypicker is tough and crowded but we do it annually because it’s super convenient and has pretty views. You can have lunch at the top and take the gondola down or hike down. Dog friendly with a few shallow creeks along the way.

Definitely a strenuous hike at several points. The scenery and views were breath taking; loved hiking through the Aspens. Don't forget water. I enjoyed the gondola ride down; free if you hike up.

Started in west vail then up on berry picker. Acfew route changes due to construction on the mountain. Added several trails at the top. Cheated and took the gondola down. Great day of hoking

Did this as a round trip. Up was difficult but took roughly 2 hrs. Down was more challenging and took about 90 min. Recommend hiking up and riding gondola down.
