If you're looking for a nice challenging trail at Beaver Creek Resort, this trail is for you. Out and back trail that goes almost straight up. If you'd like a shorter hike without the hike down, take the trail up and use the gondola down for free.

We hiked up Beaver Lake Trail (all uphill but scenic) and across Royal Elk Trail (uphill and not as scenic) and back down on the Overlook Trail. We loved this trail because of the many beautiful stands of Aspens, evergreens, and wildflower areas. Beautiful views of the mountains and Beaver Creek Village. Hiking up this trail would seem to be fairly strenuous, but it does have lots of good switchbacks.

Great trail and worth the effort! Did this trail with my 70 year old father in law who has never hiked.

Great workout! Difficult but so beautiful! Knowing we could get a cold beer at the top and take the gondola down kept us going!

Pretty views. Struggled a bit with the incline as had just arrived from MI. 7 year old did great. Inspired by the Alpine Meadows; sang songs from the Sound of Music. Lots of places to stop, rest and have the requisite P&J & snacks. 2 year old in pack enjoyed stops and peeking in the Candy Cabin. Took a few detours; started at BG and ended at BC

perfect hike if you want a good workout and you don't have much time. 1h sharp from bottom to top but you burn a lot of calories as it is steep most of the way. nice views at the ridge close to the top.

Great trail with beautiful views along the trail. Best part is towards the top of trail where you traverse the trail on top of a rock butte for several hundred feet. I’d say this trail is really only an intermediate level challenge for most part but there are a few sections which may be somewhat steep, but definitely not a problem. May be be more challenging for folks coming from lower altitude states, but nothing really too technically difficult. Mostly shaded, no water to cross, straight forward solid hike. Highly recommend.

Excellent hike - Mostly shady with Aspen interspersed among Evergreens, occasional lookouts with four slope crossings displaying a mix of wildflowers! The well marked trail with its challenging incline (gaining 2,100ft. in just 3 miles) is easy on the ankles (only one rocky area near the end). It took 1hr. 40min. to reach the destination where “the hills were alive with the sound of music” (not only views as breathtaking as Salzburg, Austria, but Spruce Saddle Lodge broadcasts music!), and delicious burgers and fries can be purchased for a small fortune. There are plenty of Adirondack chairs on the hillside to rest weary legs, enjoy refreshments, and take in glorious views! Top it off with a free ride down on the gondola!

Shaded and well marked, this is definitely one of my favorites. The forest is beautiful and the wildflowers are all on display!

Nice trail with beautiful wildflowers, views, and varied terrain. Only hiked it down, after taking the Centennial lift up the mountain. Kids (6& 13) enjoyed it, and it wasn’t especially difficult but the switchbacks just go on and on so by the end they were done! It ends in Beaver Creek Village, where you can treat yourself to a gelato or a beer.

Awesome hike! My husband and I along with our two daughters 11 and 9 took the centennial gondola to the top, had lunch and hiked down. Trail was in great shape! Slow going for the first half as there are lots of rocks, tree roots, etc that you need to make your way across. Personally, thought it was fun! And, going down wasn’t easy! About 4 miles and we were definitely tired! Didn’t notice any bugs really at all.

Stopped only a few times because the mosquitos were out in force. Definitely a workout, but rewarded myself with a beer at the top from the ski lodge. Lovely views.

Trail was in amazing shape! Good incline and beautiful wildflowers everywhere!

Trail was in great condition and very well marked. Saw tons of wildlife along the way and walked through incredible aspen groves. Definitely worth the uphill, and the chairlift was free to ride down after 9:30am.

My 8 month old GSD was able to cruise up this trail. On the other hand, I had to stop a handful of times to take breaks and I've been at elevation for 4 years now. The trail is generally steep for 90% of the hike I'd say with plenty of shade. Took us about 2.5 hours to get to the top where we rode the gondola down. It's nice that you get to download without a lift ticket and dogs are allowed only on the way down. Bring plenty of water and follow the signs. Some confusing spots towards the top, but the awesome workers of BC have the wrong way blocked off with logs. If you walk around or over them you will be off trail.

Great trail if you’re looking for a hike right out of Beaver Creek mountain village. Steep at times for sure a great workout. Hiked with 13 and 16 yr olds in tennis shoes they had less of a problem then their semi in shape dad. Did it in 2 hours and gondola down..recommend the lift down.
