A high altitude lake with views of many mountains. Easy, paved trail that can be icy in the winter.

Classic lake loop trail. Beautiful reflection of the mountains in the water during summer months.

It was super snowy and cold yesterday when we went up! We didn’t have spikes on but would definitely recommend them if you plan on going now.

Easy trail for any skill level. You could complete this in a suit with no problem. Very crowded, even on weekdays. Take the shuttle if arriving later in the morning. Great views of surrounding mountains. Once you’re done with this, do yourself a favor and try the Nymph/Dream/Emerald lakes trail.

Lovely walk around a beautiful lake with stunning views. Couldn’t have given us a better preview for what was to come...Bear Lake should definitely be your first stop, simply to take in the natural beauty surrounding us!

It was pretty crowded and the animals are definitely used to being fed. That part made me sad. But the views were so pretty!

Good easy hike to finish day. Was crowded at entrance but not bad as I made my way around.

Really easy loop around the lake. Gorgeous views through out the hike. Lots of other trails off of Bear Lake. Parking can be tough or the parking lot may be full.

We took our kids today to do the bear lake trail and then went all the way to Emerald lake as well! Beautiful leaves changing colors!! Made for an amazing reflection off the water!! And kids loved it and the cool things the rangers had at the ranger station!

Although this is heavily trafficked trail the views are amazing. The Aspens were so golden today, with no wind reflected nicely off the lake.

Just a beautiful, tranquil hike. It is a very easy, short hike. The views are spectacular. You have to get there really early to get to this hike as it is a very popular trail.

The trail is normally pretty crowded, but it’s easy and kid friendly with beautiful views of Bear Lake and the Rockies! This is a must see when visiting Rocky Mountain National Park!

Perfect for everyone! The lake is beautiful and the views fantastic. If you are looking for a slower, less strenuous hike with a true feel of being in the Rocky Mountain National Park, this is a must see.

Super nice trail. Almost can call it a path or walkway. Only objection was that it was so short. Still some amazing views.

We also hiked from Bear lake to Fern lake. This was our most favorite hike yet in RMNP. I highly recommend!!!! It's a long hike but mostly down hill. Be sure to see Lake Helene, don't miss Odesda lake it has a hairpin turn that can easily be missed, those two have gorgeous views. Fern lake isn't as pretty but has great trout fishing. My husband caught a couple dozen, catch and release, very exciting for the fishing enthusiast. Even has a couple waterfalls. Park at fern lake and take the shuttle to Bear lake.

Lovely lake flanked by pines and mountain views. As expected, it was fairly crowded with many casual walkers. We found a secluded rock by the shore to have our lunch and watched the ducks dabble for food in the crystal clear water and snap their beaks at the large blue dragonflies. Didn’t make it all the way around as our legs were sore from our early morning Emerald Lake hike (which was absolutely breathtaking!)
