This trail is a bit of a mixed bag, the west side is quite nice and it’s fun to explore the adjacent peaks like Mount Buckhorn. The forest is dense so there are few view opportunities but those few are beautiful.

The east side trail is mostly for mountain bikes, a severely eroded gash in the mountainside that’s hard to hike as there is little hold for your boots. But it sure looks like a lot of fun for biking and it offers a few great views of Colorado Springs.

Finally, I wasn’t aware that a large part of the trail is on the road so I took the Spring Creek trail which starts right at the tunnel down to the Columbine trail. This trail is quite beautiful and adds some intense elevation changes to the hike.

Awesome trail! Depending on the side trails you take this hike can get intense and a bit challenging but definitely worth it for the views!

Great views! If you do out/back on same path it's continuous grade. If you do the loop described it will be more variability.

Wouldn't categorize this as a hard trail, but definitely great views. I went off and peaked Mt Buckhorn, very rewarding.

Phew!!! The "switchbacks" on the backside side of this thing are very long and very steep. Grade A calf burner. Serious suck in the first leg of this hike but you summit quickly then enjoy a long relaxing trail all the way down. Brace yourself for the first 30min to an hour but it's a small fraction of time compared to how you'll be spending most of the trail. Cool streams and even a little bridge to cross. Love this trail! Great views and an awesome workout. If you park at the trailhead just remember when you get spit back out onto the paved road go left!

I'm a little out of shape, so the steepness was a challenge. But I loved it! Very pretty views

This trail should not he labeled as hard. It's a moderate at max and that is only because of the distance. Trails where gradual increase in elevation. Great scenery but nothing to write home about.
