Tips

Connects to many OHV routes in Red Feather Lakes area This trail climbs so gradually on the east side, you don't realize you are climbing above 10,000 ft. It has many twists and turns as it passes between Middle Bald Mountain and South Bald Mountain. Parts of the route are punishing. When you reach the turn for Green Ridge Trail, you have the option of turning left and following it south on a long, rocky road to Highway 14; or continuing west to easy Forest Road 319. Located in Roosevelt National Forest. For current conditions call Canyon Lakes Ranger District (970) 295-6700. No major obstacles, but a lot of very rocky terrain. Not recommended for stock SUVs, but those with very high clearance can probably do it. West end has some big ruts and mud holes, but worst can be bypassed.

For current conditions call Canyon Lakes Ranger District (970) 295-6700.

Bald Mountain Road can be combined with Kelly Flats, Sevenmile Creek and Green Ridge Trail. All four trails can be done in a very long day if you keep moving briskly and have no breakdowns. This trip should be done with other hard-core vehicles. All four routes are available as eGuides from FunTreks on EveryTrail. Trail conditions can change without notice.

Just finished this with my 3” lifted 4runner on 33’s. Tough and tight in some spots but overall a fun trail, lost 2 hub caps haha. Lots of dispersed camping around the area

first time running this trail. super fun alot of standing water. beautiful. I wouldn't recommend trying a stock xj. anything bigger and you're probably good. I run 31s and a 5 inch lift on my xj and it was a tad bit tricky. awesome trail though.

Pretty fun off roading trail. Some ares are pretty tough. Lots of side by sides. Also very windy at some points as your on top of the mountain. It is archery/ black powder season up there so be aware of hunters.

Starts out as nice easy ride, but does get very difficult with large boulders and narrow rocky climbs!

Great trail! Went up through the original start of the trail in my JKU, trail is a little narrow in spots. Full size trucks won't make it all the way. Need a lifted vehicle for sure.
