Had the trail to myself late morning on a Tuesday (2/9). Snow shoes are 100% necessary!! Though much of the trail was packed or semi-packed snow, there were sections where I post-holed well past my knees - WITH snowshoes, and about a mile between the fork and the road / tank where I trekked through ~12” of untouched heavy snow.

such a fun trail through the woods! started around 1 pm and finished closer to 4 pm (lots of stopping for photos). i saw maybe like 10 people tops (more skiers and bikers vs hikers). i wore spikes, but def when you get about 3/4 miles away from the tank, you will post hole. most of the trail is packed but tight. if you step off the trail you will sink. it's perfect for snowshoeing. i would say there is a good 14-18 inches of snow up there. the parking lot is well plowed and 2WD shouldn't have a problem accessing the road to the TH.

Great hike today on Baker's Tank trail. Lots of snow but very packed. Saw four fat tire bike riders and one other set of hikers. Beautiful views. Took Boreas Pass Road back and the snow on it too was packed and easy to walk. I had micro-spikes.

Gorgeous! Packed pretty well most of the way-challenging but do-able in spikes. Most people were x-country skiing or snowshoeing. Great for pups!

HikingGreat!

Good trail through the trees, but the season is done to see any yellow Aspens. Pleasant hike, but I recommend the out and back instead of walking the street back down to the trailhead because as cars drive by, the dust goes into the air. I recommend this as a nice hike through trees, but autumn scenery is done for the season.

Rocky path to hike/run/MTB. Views are hard to see, but forest landscape is pleasant.

Not a lot of great scenic views but a great woods trail. When you make it to the tank you are rewarded with a view.

Great, not crowded even on Labor Day weekend. Treesy, very few hikers, a few mountain bikers, all super polite. Great to find a good route for us and the dog on this holiday!

Mountain biking

Really bad for mountain biking unless you have a dual suspension and love really rocky trails. It's really washed out lots of roots and rocks every pedal of the way.

Good climb to start then levels off. We veered off the trail at mile 1 and continued in the trees. Great tree coverage and nice and quiet. No Vista views but really pretty. Kids really enjoyed it. Would do again and continue further down.

A nice walk in the woods but very few views. This trail is best in the morning as it remains shaded until about noon or 1 o’clock. Counterclockwise brings you through the elevation quickly. You can continue the loop down a dirt road but many cars will pass you and throw up dust and it will not be shaded. I feel the trail is better if you turn around the road and come back through the trees again. Moderate traffic trail. Many mountain bikers.

Very rocky, good inclined, last 1/3 is pretty level. Was expecting some thing super cool at the end other than the tank. Great views on the way!!

Pretty and just the right level of a challenge without being to arduous while hiking with kids and baby wearing. Good elevation gain for us - kind of rocky trail. A few other hikers and bikers but it didn’t feel busy. We enjoyed the drive out on Boreas Pass too!
