nice day for a nice snow hike. 4" at trail head, above knees at 3.5 mile mark.

Lots of varied scenery, many meadows and more streams with lovely rushing water sounds than in any trail I've been on in rmnp. Bridges in various states of disrepair. Nice lake, with an exciting trail tantalizing up to the ridge behind. We ran into a moose down low and marmot up high. no snow September 1.

Lots of mushrooms in the otherwise dull forest. Trail is prettier once it crosses the road and irrigation ditch. There is a small lake to the right, some small creeks and waterfalls. Then it opens into a meadow of wonderful wildflowers. At the T, go left to the lake which is best viewed from above on the southwest side. Buggy if the wind isn't blowing. Hardly any mud and no snow. Bugs were not bad. Very friendly marmot in the bushes at the lake. We took the Baker route up and Grand Ditch trail down. Lots of different environments to experience doing the different routes out and back.

Hiked on Saturday, July 13th Pros: Beautiful surroundings / not a lot of other hikers (hiked on a Saturday too) / gorgeous streams, waterfalls and views Cons: It’s on National Forest land so not well maintained / wet and muddy for at least 25% of the trail / last 0.5miles require serious post holing to get to the lake, we opted against it. See snowbank pics and this was in mid July. Lots and lots of mosquitos

Beautiful hike. Trail was easy to follow. Still a couple of manageable snow fields as you approach the lake (fine with hiking boots). Your feet may get wet as the runoff tends to aggregate on the trail and make it marshy. Marmots at the top. Lake still had quite a bit of ice. Lots of streams along the trail. Started 9am Friday July 12, plenty of parking and didn’t see a single other person on the entire hike.

Took off on this hike later than we would have liked so we didn’t get to go the whole way. Made it to the last half mile, just around the corner from the baby lake. Hit the snow line just before 11000 ft, with lots of melt. The hike up until that point was spectacular and remote. Slow going because of all the pictures we couldn’t pass up. Lots of wildlife and amazing views. Deer, moose, and lots of smaller animals. Kids (10 and 12) weren’t dressed for the snow and we were running out of time so we stopped just past the snow line. We talked to a couple that made it to baby lake and said there were chest high snow drifts that they had to navigate at that level (July 12th). No one we saw made it all the way to Parika. Worth it anyway. 5 stars. Kids did awesome. Trail well visible, slight detour at the gulch (turn right at the bridge).

Hiked this trail on Tuesday (10/16). Did all but 1/2 a mile of this out and back trail and saw no one!! Really pretty hike but ran into thigh high snow at the top and turned back before I reached the lake. Was really disappointed I didn’t make it to the destination but since I couldn’t find the trail up top for all the snow, I felt it was best to turn back for safety reasons. Fell into deep pockets of snow several times. I’ll do this one again a little earlier in the year!

Hiked in with the family including a 9, 14, and 15 year old. It is a nice hike through old growth forest interspersed with meadows and rocky areas. The last mile and a half is tough but worth it ... and the kids crushed it. Enjoyed the lake on a bluebird day and traffic on a Tuesday was very light. On the way out we saw a bull moose just below the lake bedded down in the shade.

Backpacked in. Camped 2 nights. Seen a large bull moose right below Parika lake on the 2nd day. Around 20 people came up in the time I was there. Very beautiful. Hiked up to Parika's summit, beautiful views. Lots of fresh water. Awesome hike. Awesome stay.

Hiked mid-June, still some snow around but it wasn’t anything major. Lots of wildflowers!

Saw many bull moose. Last mile and a half are definitely strenuous. Trail was well maintained with a few wet spots. Beautiful flowers and very green.
