great but the final 2 miles appear fenced off at least when I was following the map (maybe map needs to be updated). I got to the Breckenridge sawmill museum but not to the ice rink. when I get the chance I will start on ice rink side and see how far I get.

Amazing trail in the winter time! All down hill and snow packed so very easy to follow. If you did step off the trail though you’d sink a good 1-3ft into the snow. Saw some squirrels and a lot of rubs on the aspens.

This trail is appropriately named!! However, if you are looking for peak aspen conditions, you are too late (as of 10/4/19). Still a very nice walk with a few areas still peaking. Can’t wait to come back next year!

Pure magic walking through the golden Aspens! I waked it with my little dog around 9AM on a weekday and not many people of the trail yet (in fact, only 7 people). Lower part of the trail can be a little confusing...keep following signs for Illinois Creek High. Took bus back up to parking lot at Boreas Pass.

Fun hike. Pretty crowded on a Sunday morning, but the views and changing aspen were worth it.

Trail is beautiful but not well marked. I got to the first split and stayed to the left as it looked like the natural bend in the trail. I was recording the hike so a short time later, the app notified me that I was off the trail. Doubled back and went to the right at split. Again, a short time later, got another notice that I was off trail so doubled back again. Turns out the All Trails route appears to be closed at this time as there were trees lying across the trail. If I had more time I would've taken one of the other routes but had to go. Even with the confusion, a beautiful enjoyable hike. The Aspens are really popping in some sections right now too.

This trail ended up being about 3 miles from the start off of Boreas pass all the way down to the ice rink. Beautiful aspen trees along the trail and easy enough for family and kids. We started at the top and took the summit county free bus back up to near where we started.

Great trail - gorgeous aspen trees lining the trail and an awesome teepee next to an abandoned mine made the trip for my 9 year old son.

Loved aspen alley. Took free bus up to to silver queen stop and then had to ride up on main road to get to drop in spot. Lucky another biker told me to follow him. First half of trail was perfect and awesome. Second half was kind of hard to stay on trail. I went off when it started calling itself Illinois gulch I think. But loved the ride.

This was a great trail to hike if you are looking for something fairly easy and relaxing. My group parked at suggested start, which is on Boreas Road. The trail was very well kept, with multiple look out points. There were a lot of small up and downs, but nothing intense. You do share the path with bikers, but everyone is super nice and courteous. Once you hike down to the bottom, you end up at the Ice Rink parking lot. There is a free bus you can take part way up to the starting lot, but you still have to walk about a mile. I would also recommend starting before 10am. The trail gets crowded the closes you get to the Ice Rink and the closer to lunch it gets.

We hiked this on 7/25/19. Was a great wooded trail, some parts of it were along the highway that you could hear but was fine by us. It was a climb in places as I’m not very acclimated. At the end when the wooded area opened up, we saw a moose grazing in the meadow. He decided that he needed to walk the trail as well. We scurried out of his way behind a tree and watched him from a distance. Pretty crazy. We decided not to try to hike back on the same trail as we did not want to get in his way so we opted to take the mountain road back to the ice rink. Well just up the road on the way back we bumped into another moose on the road. Was crazy! But we minded our own, he minded his. Was an adventure.

Caveat to this review - we only did what we could from the Breckenridge Sawmill Museum East about 1/2 to the listed starting point (Boreas Pass and CR530ish).. Went out today on snowshoes. Great hike. Great views. Ton of snow - trail is packed/broken in few spots, but completely unfindable right now.. We followed the map a bit but mostly followed some backcountry ski (or telemark?) tracks. Breaking trail was waist high powder in places. Not for the faint of breath right in conditions right now. At times the snow was 3-4 feet deep. Very powdery. Appropriately sized snowshoes are a must for the portion East of the Sawmill. That said, east from the sawmill is packed down with all the traffic... So that can be done sans snowshoes for the most part. Parking at sawmill is good - it is plowed with 8-10 spots. We were one of two cars there today.

Loved this trail! Well maintained, well marked, moderately busy on this Sunday afternoon (a couple of young families, 4-5 mountain bikers, a few people with dogs). We parked at the ice rink, then took the free bus (Boreas Pass) up to the stop “Bluff Condominiums” (10 min ride), walked about 3/4 of a mile up along the road to the trail head and hiked the trail down to the ice rink. Would recommend doing this if hiking with kids. Aspen are mostly bare by now (Sep. 23). We were able to catch a few patches of pretty fall foliage on the lower half. Upper half of the trail is tranquil, lower half you can hear some traffic.

Started from the ice rink. Good trail mostly thru the woods with the aspens turning. From the museum to the top was pretty busy with a lot of bikes. Bikers were especially courteous so all went well. Easy hike close to town.

Aspens were beautiful, great views in several parts, super close to town. The only holdup is mountain bikers (which don’t bother me per-say) can come tearing down hill and I had a dog with me, which made me nervous that I couldn’t pull her out of the way fast enough... but one of my favorite hikes, regardless!

Mountain biked down the trail in mid September and the trees were really nice. A people walking their dogs uphill. But no big deal. Everybody was friendly and moved out of the way to the bikes downhill. Really enjoyed our ride

Hiked up Aspen Alley to the road ad back dwn again. A little elevation gain to get your heart rate up, but enough cross mountain to get a breather. Beautiful dense aspen groves and gorgeous views of the ski resort. Two hours round trip tops.

Great trail for viewing Aspens in full color. You can get great photos from the bottom looking back up toward the trail head. This is an easy hike with a well groomed trail that's mostly free from rocks and roots. It's a heavily trafficked and popular with bikes so please keep dogs on a leash for everyone's safety.
