This is a beautiful and popular trail in the Golden, CO area. Be sure to read the sign and map at the trail head because the trail is on an alternating use schedule to accommodate the large number of hikers and bikers. The trail is part of an excellent network of trails in the Apex Park.

Really good work out. Went 4/10/18 on an even day so bikers were kinda taking over lol but everyone is very respectful about sharing the trail. Still a bit muddy on the Enchanted Forrest side but not majorly. Giving it 4 stars because it doesn’t necessarily have a rewarding view or summit...but it’s a nice trail overall. Well marked.

Great longer hike. We went on a cooler day which was a blessing seeing as there wasn’t much shade further east on the trail. The wind kept us nice and cool, and the elevation gain was slow but challenging.

Go on this hike in cooler days for sure if you have a tendency to get to hot.

We went on a odd day, which allows but biker traffic both ways down the trail. It got a little congested at times, and sometimes was a little annoying stopping every 5-20 min to allow bikers to pass.

However, the scenery was beautiful and relaxing.

Loved the variation of the hike between the beautiful forest and the views of town. Highly recommend. The weather was mild but be warned of the icy patches throughout the hike, especially in the woods. We wore microspikes and were glad to have them, even if they were annoying to take on and off between the icy and dry trail areas. Would recommend bringing some type of traction device and a layer as you transition between sunny/exposed and shaded/trees.

Pretty easy trail with some rocky sections, none too steep. It follows the creek from the beginning, which is nice in the warmer months, and there are some shady sections as well.

I was on this trail last summer and encountered a man who had tripped on a rock while trail running and had dislocated his hip. We had to call 9-1-1 and it took them about an hour to reach us. Careful on the rocks!

Fun hike with different terrain. Bikers were super friendly. Lots of mud with some ice, but good conditions overall for late December.

My favourite "in the woods" local trail run. Most of it is runnable. Many variations in difficulty and distance. Watch out for bikes and the occasional bear.

This was not really a great hike for me. First the volume of mountain bikers can be pretty annoying. I've been on many trails that share with bikes and are fine. but there are a lot of narrow steep parts on this trail where it can be difficult to get out of the way. And the frequency can be such that you are stepping aside for bikes almost every other minute the entire hike. All of that could be forgivable of the views were there but overall I thought it was just an average trail for views too. The Forrest section is nice but is only a fraction of the overall hike. I greatly prefer Eldorado Canyon or the Table Top trails if looking for something within 30 mins of here. Flat Irons Vista is another great option.

I do this hike in Apex Park often. If you follow Apex trail and stay left onto Enchanted Forrest you get to go in the shade and cool off for a bit before you head back down the mountain. Water source for dogs. Have seen lots of Elk. Lots of mountain bikes on Apex and connecting trails, but not too many on Enchanted.

Great hike. A bit tight in certain areas so if you bring your dog careful of the mountain bikers zipping through quickly. Great shade in the enchanted forest and nice views.

Was a good moderate hike. Took us about 3 hours to get out and back from the east side apex trailhead to the west side of the park via the enchanted trail, and back again. The first half of the hike was typical foothills terrain with a tiny bit of scrambling and the second part was through a forest with lots of shade. We started on the east side, so the first half was mostly uphill and the way back from the west was mostly downhill. There were signs throughout warning of bear and mountain lion activity, so we were on alert the whole time, but the most ferocious animals we saw were 2 rabbits and a loud bluejay. We started at 7 am so traffic wasn't too bad, a fair amount of trail runners and mountain bikers. Pretty dense plants, so not a lot of scenic places on this trail for photos.

Great place to trail run. Lots of trails/options to choose from. It is better to go early in the morning before it gets crowded with hikers and mountain bikers.

Beautiful hike! Not too hard. Steady uphill climb with a few rocky scrabbles but definitely doable for the amateur hiker (or out of shape mother with a baby!). I took a star off for the high traffic. Lots of bikers zooming downhill so hikers be sure to go on odd numbered days when bikers are restricted to one way.

One of my favorite trails when you want a nice and conveniently located day hike. Lovely in all seasons and great for taking out-of-town guests on!

better shade cover than most front range trails & once you reach the enchanted forest the drop in temperature is amazing.

Appropriately rated, beautiful trail loop that has some really nice views of the Front Range when you get to the top of Argos Trail. The Enchanted Forest is the best part of the loop as you're winding through under the tree canopy. Most of the loop otherwise is pretty out in the open. Be very wary of bikers as Apex Park is one of the busiest destinations for bikers. Also, be wary of snakes as they're a fairly common sighting this time of year. I've done numerous hikes in Apex Park since May, and have come across a snake almost every other hike.
