WARNING TO HIKERS AND COMMENT TO LAST REVIEW WRITTEN BY A HIKER. PLEASE STAY OF APEX TRAILS ON EVEN NUMBERED DAYS. Yes, if you were out hiking Apex on an even numbered day you probably did come across a lot of bikers that were annoyed you were hiking. Specially if you were hiking up The Enchanted Forest which is basically a down hill mountain bike trail on even numbered days. I am and avid hiker and biker with 3 small children that have been enjoying Apex for 25 years and it blows my mind every time I'm at Apex biking and I see hikers on this trail on an even numbered day when there are 500 plus mountain bikers riding. Apex park is the number one busiest mountain bike park on any even numbered day(even on a Monday). It is the worst place for anyone to hike on an even numbered day. Odd numbered days are for hiking and bikers can only use the trail directional up hill and must exit at the top(no down hilling allowed). For this reason very few bikers use Apex on odd numbered days and the few that do go are riding up hill slower than a hiker can walk it so there are no issues. As a hiker we basically have the entire park to ourselves on odd numbered day so we can hike in groups with our packs, kids, dogs, cats' and everything but the kitchen sink that clog up this narrow, rocky technically challenging trail making passing each other challenging at times. Apex park is probably the most heavily used trail in the Jeff Co park system and gets way too much use to have bikers and hikers on the same day. I honestly don't know why Jeff Co doesn't just make Apex hiking only on odd days and Biking only on even days like they do with some of their other parks like Centennial Cone. With the odd day directional limitations to bikers, the bikers are basically giving those days to hikers to have use of the park so maybe the courtesy thing for hikers to do is stay off Apex and The Enchanted Forest on even numbered days when you can clearly see the parking lot is full and over flowing with mountain bikers.

3 stars because of dodging bikers nearly knocking us down all afternoon. Only 2 bikers were polite the other 30 or so acted annoyed that we were on the trail. If not for them, it is 5 stars. Beautiful spring flowers, a stream for the dog and a gorgeous day. I’m sorry to say I won’t go back. We turned around 1/2 up because we were getting concerned about getting hurt. No park rangers to be seen. This was at 1:00 today. The entire parking lot was full. About 1/2 the people had masks on.

We did the entire loop. TONS of bikers. Lots of moving to the side to let them by. The top is a really incredible view of Golden/Denver. Well worth it.

This is a great trail, especially how close it is, but you have to pick your times. Lots of cyclists, enough of them not following the rules that it's kind of a problem. Some days its so bad it ruins the hike. It remains one of my favorite loops but I only go at certain times.

Really fun trail system to play around on. Quite a few mountain bikers but they were super cautious and courteous.

Nice set of trails if you don’t mind mountain bikes and lots of other people. There’s many different trails that you can link up to make as long or as short of a hike as you want - with many different landscapes. Plenty of parking.

Saw some elk in the distance. Lots of bikers. Saw two crows attacking a falcon in the air. Saw my dog defy gravity when she was postholing. She also utilized a YUUUUGGGGEEEE stick and put it partly in the middle of the bike trail. Told her to move it. She picked it up and placed it directly in the middle of the trail. Had to move it completely off this trail. The stick was legit 9 feet long.

Trails are well-groomed and dry. Some parts meander through forested areas, while other parts don’t have any shade. Lots of bikers not following the rules the day we went.

Really fun hike, trail run. Snowy in the enchanted forest portion. Didn’t require spikes. Watch out for bikers on odd days.

Icy and muddy in spots but definitely manageable!

Decent workout and close to the city. good side trail go off on away from the crowds of the main trail. just don't understand why people still insist on these big group hikes right now where the clog up the trails and act oblivious to people safely trying to get around them. Everyone is courteous to other hikers. unless you are in a group ...then you are an inconsiderate jerk apparently.

Great hike! We took pick n sledge through to the enchanted forest and completed the full loop which was about 8miles. A bit muddy, icy and snowy in the enchanted forest so kinda slippery, but spikes aren’t needed. Will definitely do this hike again!

Needed snowshoes today after about 1.5 miles in. Imagine that will change quickly. Beautiful day.
