HikingGreat!

No one was up there. COVID / dog friendly! Bumpy dirt road to get to up there, but incredible views made it worth it!! Short and sweet way to squeeze a walk with good views in on a time crunch.

Visiting the area decided to do the hike. Not difficult, some elevation change. We took the trail to the right (dirt) not the paved. We came back the paved to complete the loop. Very nice waterfall with a small pool underneath. Views are gorgeous.

Great easy walk. 7 mile dirt road getting there which felt a little sketchy even dry in my Camry rental car.

Drive up seven mile dirt road to access. Amazing views of Animas Valley and Durango! Paved loop trail (.75 miles) with look out posts, picnic table, and bathrooms. Great choice for families.

Easy trail, easy drive up to the trailhead. Very nice that there’s something accessible for those who aren’t able to hike, but want to enjoy the views.

Drove on up before coming back. Amazing views up the road 4 miles. This overlook offers beautiful views and interesting information signs. Typos on the signs-how did that happen?!?! We will definitely be back with a picnic to enjoy at one of the picnic tables along the woodsy trail.

Short, easy hike on paved walkway. There are benches, picnic tables, and informative signs interspersed at intervals along the trail. Ample parking. Pit toilets. The views are amazing, but it is an 8 mile drive up a well maintained, but often washboardy gravel road. Probably best as a picnic destination rather than just for the hike, since the drive up is time consuming. There are other trailheads on the way up too.

Nice views, super easy level trail. Our almost 3 year old "hiked" it with us. Like walking on the sidewalk in Durango but with nice views.

Very short, fairly level paved trail. For someone who isn’t used to the attitude or just wants some spectacular views of Durango but doesn’t want to hike a difficult trail, this is the one.

Walking

Nice paved trail and great overlooks into Animas Valley. However, you have to drive about eight miles up Junction Creek Road to get there. Not sure it's worth the drive for a repeat walk. It's not a hike. Pit toilets and picnic area there, too.

This is a beautiful paved trail that overlooks Durango and the Animas Valley. There are a few picnic tables and several informative signs. Definitely worth taking the drive to see, and is a great place for a picnic and small children. We went during the week and had the place to ourselves.
