The wildflowers are amazing right now! This was a lovely stroll and only got steep at the turnoff for the lake. We struggled to find an established trail on final approach to the lake but everything else was nice and easy. With the lake portion we were on the trail about 3 hours 45.

When I clicked into Apple maps from AllTrails I was told to turn left too soon and ended up at a dead end, but luckily we went back out and made it up to 295 without further issue. 7/25/18

Blocked by waist deep soft snow about 1.3 miles in. Will try again as the grade makes for a great hike up.

Beautiful trail and easy to follow. a good bit of water, snow and ice, so watch your step in areas.

Love this trail! Have done it a couple times, and it never gets old. Views for days. Love hiking to the lake up top too. Tons of marmots and did I mention views for days?

First day out for a week of hiking. Nice starter, very interesting site, very tired pooch.

This was a fun hike with great views. I'm not sure which routes everyone posting here took, but at some point last year part of the palisades were damaged in an avalanche, so the road to the east entrance tunnel is closed from the turnoff for Hancock. We opted to hike from the closed off section, and after a mile or two of walking down the road arrived at the tunnel. It was really interesting to see some of the restoration work that was being done and learn about local history from the signs. We hiked up to the top of the ridge over the tunnel (short but steep), but decided not to go any farther since there were still some snowfields.

Easy peasy hike. Would be great for a scenic trail run or bike. Sometimes the creek is high, but it is slow moving. Take off your shoes and wade across.
