It has been reported this trail has a temporary closure due to COVID-19. Please see the park's website for up to date information. Trail from Alpine Visitor Center up rock stairs is very short, but due to high altitude and stair-climbing, is difficult for some. Trail is very crowded depending on crowds at the Visitor Center.

The short was leads to a beauty do view point but freezing! And windy. This was in June, too. Could be hard for some affected by elevation.

Requires climbing steep steps and short walk afterwards. Parking a challenge at the visitors center.

This trail is mostly a series stairs leading up to a beautiful overlook at 12,000 feet. If you're at the Alpine Visitor Center, you may as well go up a little higher. The views from the top are amazing. It's very windy up there. Take it slow on the stairs and take deep breaths to lessen the impact of the altitude, but the views are definitely worth the effort.

Beautiful views, short hike but takes the wind out of you being so high up. The gift shop sells oxygen, best 10 dollars you ever spent.

Did this with my 4.5 yr old twins . Had to carry them a lot but it’s doable. Lots of stairs & but very pretty

My son and I had fun on this. But boy, be prepared to get tired on this little one, as the elevation can really kick you! But the views at the top are lovely. All around, it's a great little hike from the parking lot.

Huffers Hill was amazing and challenging even though it was short and sweet. You def. feel that altitude!

Super easy trail. Great first trail to acclimate or warm up with if you plan on going on other trails at lower levels. But very windy! Watch your hat!

Nice little hike up for some lovely views! Nothing too crazy, but good for something easy sand if you’re looking for a very maintained trail. Respect the vegetation and wildlife and stay on the trail. It is a very fragile ecosystem at elevation!

Great views. Lots of steps but easy.

I both understand and object to the "easy" classification. well worth the view. A good cardio trial (and altitude sickness test) for anyone accustomed to sea-level dwelling like I am.

Incredible views. Definitely lives up to its nickname of Huffer’s Hill. Loved it. Highly recommend. Parking was efficiently ran and the visitors center was a nice stop during our hikes throughout the day.

Busy but totally worth doing if you take Old Fall River Road. Gets chilly (56ish in July) so be prepared. Very high elevation- go slow, bring water, even though it’s .7 miles, it gets your heart pumping.

Good views from the top, but I think I got some way better views from a few of the pullouts on trail ridge road. This one gets the heart pumping. Saw a marmot up there.

Paved trail from the visitor’s center with many long steps. The afternoon I was there many tiny tundra flowers were blooming and the views are dramatic. The wind can be chilly so be prepared. It was pretty busy with many families with children.

Fun family hike when visiting the Alpine Visitor’s Center. Saw lots of elk and a marmot hanging out on the rocks near the end of the hike. Quick and worth it for the views.

Visited midday on a Tuesday. Trail was moderately crowded and very windy. Jackets and pants highly recommended. Spectacular views. Parking lot was near full; can't turn left into parking lot if coming from Grand Lake.

Worth the steep climb

Beautiful view at 12000ft. Worth the short but out of breath stairs

Awesome views. Worth the 224 steps but old people were struggling. Takes you to 12,005 ft. Right next to Mt Chapin and Old Falls River Rd. See Colorado River headwaters. Fun place. Please stay on the trail. Saw a girl posing for pics in a Keep Off area. Encourage respect and rules.

Take your time if you're not use to the high altitude. Worth the trek. See the Alpine Tundra and 360 view. Even though a very short hike, we experience a quick change of weather. Clear skies to snow. Very windy on top of the mtn.

it was cold and windy but worth it! I would rate it as a moderate. I am a lettercarrier and walk everyday. With the altitude I need to rest often. Coming down piece of cake.

Huffers Hill

So awesome. It’s a short hike but breathtaking on a clear day. Be sure to drive up the Old Road through the state park.

Crazy short out and back. We went up and was met with extreme cloud cover. We still had fun doing it.

it has awesome views. however, if you are up there on a windy day it makes it a rough climb. I do not recommend taking children up on a windy day they will get blown around. it was also 39 degrees in june. a coat is a must! totally worth it!!

Short hike up stone steps. Amazing views. We finished just before a storm rolled in
