Kings Canyon National Park charges a fee to enter. Fees are $35 per vehicle or $30 per motorcycle. If you are entering on foot or bike the fee is $20 per person. You can also purchase a park specific annual pass for $70. The Zumwalt Meadow Loop offers great views of the meadow, the Kings River, and the granite cliffs that surround Cedar grove. Portions of the trail are accessible to people in wheelchairs.

Trailhead parking is 4.5 miles (7.2 km) east of Cedar Grove Village road.

Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Park 47050 Generals Highway Three Rivers, CA 93271 Phone:(559) 565-3341

Purchase a trail guide at the visitor center. Allow 1 hour. Spring of 2017 saw heavy rains and river flooding damage portions of this trail. From the parking area, over the bridge, and to the boardwalk, the river washed away hardened surfaces, so some spots are now more difficult for wheelchair travel. The boardwalk remains passable, but beyond that, where the trail paralleled the river, the river washed over the trail leaving softened, more uneven surfaces. Repairs are being planned, possibly starting as early as September.

A beautiful fall hike indeed— still a few mosquitoes, but the bright yellows made them forgettable. Easy but varied terrain, a good place to see KCNP!

Beautiful short hike. There were a ton of mosquitoes though. I’d definitely wear bug spray, or probably avoid if you don’t want to keep swatting them away. There was a sign that the trail was closed half way, but we were able to go through and do the whole loop.

Beautiful hike with views of meadow, partly along the river and a small stretch of rocky outcrop. A small bridge over a dry stream ( at this time of year) has washed off but one can easily step into the dry bed and walk across

The meadow section along the river is closed for no reason....or maybe because tiny foot bridge over nothing is out. The signs looked like they were put up months ago. The trail is pretty all the way around. The south side actually has you hiking over some rock stairs which is fun. There's a little, well worn, mini-path out onto the meadow if you find it through the super tall meadow grass on the south side of this trail. From the middle of the meadow, it does look like a little Yosemite, but not as majestic. We joined the few families in the little river when we were done with this hike. The water doesn't flow hard this far up. Bring water shoes.

Bridge was closed so could only do a small portion. But amazing views of what we could hike.

Beautiful trail! Only thing of concern was a black bear came toward us at a jog but luckily changed directions at about 50 yards!

Did this 6/23. Hiked to portion where bridge was out, though it looked like you could go farther if you wanted to. Was a satisfactory view of the granite walls rising above the meadow. Nice stroll along the river.

Half of the loop is closed due to storms washing out the boardwalk but you can still go 1.2 miles in and then back out. Stunning views of the meadow and peaks.

The boardwalk is still out due to previously high water so you can’t complete the loop. We stopped fairly early into the trail to watch a mother bear with her two cubs and just decided to head back to our car afterwards since we couldn’t complete the loop, anyways. Seems like a nice little trail though with good views of the river and the canyon.
