Easy to moderate. Great incline and mostly easy terrain. Loved the winds sipping around while hiking!

Bird watchingNo shade

The first half mile has a fairly steep incline and still very much feels like you’re in Malibu’s backyard, but it does wind around to feel more in nature. It’s a wide, rocky path. No shade. Not recommended for birding if it’s windy, which I think it often is. We had strong winds for most of the hike and only spotted a few hawks and ravens, but once the wind died down we did see more bird activity. Beautiful sunset views.

Great hike. Nice incline hike from the start but worth the amazing view once you reach the top.

came here on a monday morning & there was plenty of free parking in the lot. not crowded at all. (no restrooms here so plan ahead!) enjoyed the wide open trail w/expansive views of the mountains. well maintained rocky dirt path + not much shade. steady incline and a few nice flat lookout points. definitely rec coming early before the sun comes out. looking forward to my next hike here!!

Short and easy fireroad hike-all uphill (gradual incline)till then all downhill. 7:40. Car. Elevation: 444 8:40. Top & end of trail Elevation: 1890. (Took the single track trail from peak—really steep and not fun for me) 9:35. Car

Great parking situation! It’s definitely on the more difficult side of “moderate”, as it’s a steady incline all the way up. We couldn’t make it to the top so we just turned around halfway. Great views of the ocean and a wide path with not too many people. Most people wore masks which was really nice to see. Will do this one again and hopefully finish next time!

One of the better trails in Malibu in my opinion. Hiked the full loop trail so around 10 miles in total, there were barely any people there for a Saturday, lots of ocean and canyon views. Loved it

Hiking

Besides the slight blight of ugly Malibu Mansions being developed at the trailhead, a pleasantly litter-free and easy hike that gets quieter as you go along. By the way: who are you people that come out here with your friends to LOUDLY talk as you hike? Most of us come out to nature to get away from gabbing idiots!

Double climb makes for great challenge on the bike. Grand views and trail less travelled on the Kansan side.

Always a great hike. Trail is easy fire road but elevation gain is good and the views are great. If you’re quiet you can hear the ocean.
