From the Old Lake Road parking lot (where it is free to park), we walked across the dam, up into the Lake Yosemite recreation area. This is along the backside of U.C. Merced. It is a fairly flat walk along dirt and paved paths and roads.
Nice easy hike on a Sunday!
This is a nice little walk, to get out, see some wildlife, the U.C., and wildflowers in the right season. No dogs are suppose to be in the Lake Yosemite Recreaction area, but you can have them in the starting parking lot area, as well as up on the dam. Winter, the Recreation area is pretty empty, and you don't have to be concerned about cars on the road. Summer you need to be more attentive.
