Gorgeous hike with meadows, sweeping views of forest and rock, several waterfalls (small and medium — need to veer off trail a bit for some), and of course, a couple alpine lakes. The peaceful sound of running water accompanies you for almost half the hike...lots of snowmelt. And as of June 19, still some sparkling snow patches on the mountainsides. The second half of the trail is mostly granite and can be difficult to follow at times, even with the very helpful rock path guides. Definitely had to reference the trail app a number of times. Some of the stream crossings can be a bit challenging. Wildflowers out, but probably more over the coming weeks. Lots of people on the trail on a Friday. Can park outside campground on road for free or pay $8 at equestrian camp. Rigorous hike, worth every step. Wear sunscreen and bug repellent! Enjoy!

Beautiful and very serene views. Very lightly trafficked on a weekday. I would highly recommend hiking boots and bug spray. It took us 10.1 miles to hike to Twin and Island Lake and back. We got off track a couple times and it took us about 6 hours. Not child friendly nor beginner friendly.

Gorgeous areas at the lakes. This is not fully a trail but a semi trod area for half of it that will get you lost without gps. I didn’t do the whole thing and went shorter routes and ended up doing 10 miles or 16 kilometers

Hike June 4. Enchanted pools was amazing and trail easy to follow. Hiking up from there to Twin Lakes was a little hard to find the trail initially, but then it’s just following the canyon up to the small lake (Someone called it who Hoohah lake) over a granite expanse. Then a right turn up the creek was short and steep affording an expansive view of Twin Lakes. Make sure to bear toward the lake as that may be the only safe place this time of year to cross the creek (stepping stones where lake spills into the creek). Then follow Twin lakes trail back to Wright’s Lake. Oh and there is about an extra 1.5 miles as the campground is closed and you have to park outside the campground and walk the road to Twin lakes trailhead. Wildflowers should be out in force pretty soon.

Did this hike on October 22nd. Absolutely gorgeous Fall day with beautiful Fall colors. I started around 8 in the morning so it was still really cold. When I got up closer to the lakes, the sun was still behind one of the peaks and a few of the small ponds were frozen with a thin layer of ice. Temperature was perfect sitting by the lakes in the sun, listening to the birds and light breeze with the water lapping at the shore. The starting point on the Alltrails map starts at a parking lot that isn't the actual trailhead. There is another parking lot where the proper trailhead is. This time of year the campground is closed and the signs make it seem like you have to park in the first lot but the road to the actual trailhead is open. I discovered this after walking 3/4 miles. It didn't damper the beautiful day but now I know.

Great hike on 9/1. Great weather and beautiful views. This was a bit steeper than expected but overall not too challenging. The views at the lake and the waterfalls flowing from it were well worth the effort!

I hiked this trail on Sunday, 8/11/2019 I parked at the Wright's Lake Campground, and started at the Twin Lakes TH around 10 am. Gorgeous day! Lots of water flowing down from lower Twin Lakes, all along your hike up to the Lake. Wonderful opportunity to cut over to the left of the TH and watch the streams rush over granite slabs, due to our wonderful snowfall last winter. As you head beyond these streams, you plateau into an area with a pond and stone hopping, beautifully nestled among lightly snow capped peaks. Just a bit beyond this area, you come upon Lower Twin Lakes. You have the option of stopping your hike here, lakeside, or you can cross over Twin Lakes Creek (balancing over fallen logs) to the left, and continue up some granite slabs to Upper Twin Lakes. Here, you can sit lakeside, enjoying a waterfall that stems from a Lake nestled above and beyond Upper Twin Lakes, named by others-Shangri-la. Beautiful hike, serene, not overly traveled. Perfect day hike, expect the full 9 miles for both Lakes, or more if you do some extra boulder scrambling for photo ops. Suncreen and bugspray, and of course water, with many opportunities to filter if you want to! Finished day hike around 5:30 pm. Enjoy!

Lots of water which meant lots of waterfalls. Tried to make it to Island Lake but had a difficult time finding the appropriate trail.

Amazing hike. Gorgeous views. But watch for Mosquitos, mosquitos mosquitos. Additionally careful because any group larger than 12 will be limited by Rangers and sent off 15mins apart.

I hiked the trail on 724/19. Trail is in good shape. Some mosquitoes at the trailhead. Bring repellent

this trail was one of the most amazing i have ever done! its definitely a bit of a climb but well worth it for the views of all the lakes. i took an inflatable paddle board with me to paddle out on island lake and have never been more amazed. i just did a day hike but it is also amazing for backpacking and camping! i highly recommend this trail! but a warning coming back out and down to lower elevation: there are a ton of ruthless mosquitos so be prepared! i was being eaten alive! but still worth it for all the amazing and breathtaking views!
