A nice loop trail in a Swasey area. From the picnic area high on the ridge you have great views of Lassen Peak and Mount Shasta. On a clear day you might see Sutter Buttes.

definitely a beautiful trail. went to the left and came down the mountain bike trail. lots and lots of uphill. nothing overly steep like whiskeytown but not necessarily a "easy peasy" trail. but easy for uphill training.

Loved it! Some nice uphill sections give you a good workout, and the picnic area at the peak is very cool. Lots of flowers and butterflies this time of year (late March), and a little running creek. But we ending up on Meiner loop somehow and had to hike a little ways up Delano road back to the parking lot

Nice quiet trail, I'd say more of a moderate hike just because the trail is rough and there's a lot of up and down. The bottom half of the loop was actually the toughest because it looks as if it's designed for biking, so you have to be careful not to slip. Pretty westward views along the highest points.

Well groomed trail with a decent amount of shade. It was definitely designed for mountain biking more than hiking, but it was beautiful nonetheless. Pretty good incline- gets the heart pumping!

On BLM land in Swasey Rec Area, another amazingly groomed trail - best for Mtn Biking... I went fairly late on Mothers Day w Murphy and (still rehabbing hamstring) and went against the grain for the jumps and so on... we were hiking/running so obviously didn't want to disturb the bikes, but we only saw one dude, Murphy stood to the side and waited and all was well...
Excellent short trail run, we started by going down the work way - so murphy could get into the Creek before we ran.... then doubled back up the Wintu Trail Loop... varied as we went up... some hot spots but plenty of shaded and cool areas in the mid lower levels up and down... You must take the spur to the picnic table (everything is extremely well marked)... because if it's a clear day, the view is terrific, as you can see. I'm still about fifty percent but pretty much pain free... so looking forward to PT to get back better...
also quite a few horses in this area so Murphy as always stays clear of them!

Went hiking with my daughter on Easter weekend! Beautiful day with great views! Trail is nicely shaded and but it's more for bikers then hikers! Part of the trail is closed off for maintenance FYI. Not sure why the description says it's 2 miles because it's 3 miles.
