Amazing Hike with some great views of the Elephant Knees. the way to this trail will have everyone regretting not buying a Jeep. Very Sandy and some parts clearance is a must. however the hike itself is easyyy

4x4 vehicle a MUST. We attempted the drive with a 15 passenger van. Not a great idea. We got stuck in the soft sand, waited for the tow truck that NEVER show up. Luckily we got pulled out by a lovely couple in a 2012 Ford F-150.

Amazing drive in through a sand wash canyon. No 4x4 needed - you can do it in anything that sits higher than a Civic, go slow and pick good lines, a couple of rocky spots, but nothing that will mess you up. I suggest driving in, unless you’re looking for a walk through sand. Once at the caves, spend time looking around and exploring the area, and enjoy the view of Elephant Knees in the distance.

This trail would be short but remember it's two miles of hike before this short hike. more water!

There is a sign marking the trailhead and also letting you know the closest place to park. Steep hill but it’s not too long to get to the wind caves. There are a lot of caves which make for great photos and the view of the wash from on top is amazing.

almost any car can make it just be carefull when driving. took a stock jeep no problem. the sign for the wind caves is kind of small. it feels alot shorter then a mile hike and the caves are fun to explore you can go into some of them and take fun pictures.

Came here during Memorial weekend. Was not busy at all. Although we did take our 4Runner. We saw very few smaller/sedans that drove up to the Wind Cave areas. We missed the sign the first time around. And had to go back. There IS a sign. And entrance is a steep hill. It is right ACROSS from a big FLAT sandy/parking lot area. So if you are driving in, the entrance/sign should be on your left - with the sandy/parking open space to your right. It is a 'steeper' hike for about 1 mile. Once we got there, it was very breezy. There is NO shade. So bring a hat. And coming down - there are loose rocks - so be careful! There is shade once you get to the Wind Caves. You can climb or go into the holes and take a rest. Very nice views!

Just got back from a camping trip and this was our first spot. Great view and very windy at the top. Cool caves and nooks. We camped across the trail path. There are bats at night so be careful.

Wonderful views and the wind caves at the top were very cool. The 4 mile drive in on sandy/rocky road was long in our vehicle but beautiful.

Worth it! A great quick hike that can be done with ease. Hardest part is the at the head of the trail where you might need to navigate some slightly steep loose rock and dirt. From there is it pretty mild. Bring lots of water though, the heat is no joke if you are heading out anytime after Sunrise outside of November to March. As for the drive up to the trailhead, 4wd is advised, however not required. My buddy followed me up in a Scion XB at stock ride hight w/ Low Pros and didn't have any problems. (Stupid, I know, but it worked out fine) The "road" is in a Wash and the road conditions are all subject to change so exercise caution and use your best judgment before you drive through something you might get yourself stuck in.

It was pretty dope. Stay Hydrated. Be respectful, clean up after yourself. Use sun block, take a hat. If you know how to drive you won't need a 4x4 to get to the hiking area, but it's recommended.

Easy hike up, great for kids. Go early in the morning to avoid crowds. On a Saturday we hiked past the caves to summit Split Mountain(East). There was no one there at 8am. When we came back through around 11am there were about 30 people there.

Very easy hike with great views and awesome wind caves. The initial ascent is steep and rocky, but not in any way a reason to avoid this destination. Kids will love it too. Looks like something from a sci-fi movie. Definitely need a vehicle with good clearance and better with 4wd. Access is through a sandy/rocky wash. The trip in to the trailhead through the canyon is scenic too.

I thought it was a really good hike...fast up then get to see the wind caves and back down you go. Awesomeness. Would not recommend any car try to get out to this location. A lot of lose sand, we took our 4x4 truck out to this.

Super short hike with incredible views and awesome features. This is definitely worth checking out. Although you should probably have a vehicle with a good amount of clearance because the road is a little gnarly. Smaller cars not recommended.

The dirty road to the trail head was quite bumpy, and we passed the trail was alittle hard to find! over all the trail was great, just watch you step there is lots of the loose rocks and gravel but it was well worth the drive out! the views are wonderful!:)

Nice short trail that anyone from 12-55 can navigate. Very scenic, especially when you get to the wind caves.
