nice trail in middle of Joshua's trees and rocks. climbers will be happy! lots of animals too: birds, squirrels, rabbit (if you go a bit out of track and don't make noise) nice rocks to stop for lunch in Willow hole. very quiet, no sounds. path with sand in the end. be careful of spiky cactus! (everywhere)

Lovely trail for a winter hike. Took about 3 hours total, the last mile or so is a Sandy wash but nothing too bad! enjoyed the large Joshua trees in the beginning and the desert riparian vegetation at the end! Saw some good birds too.

I thoroughly enjoyed this trail. It's easy, very flat, well marked, with lovely scenery. The destination is really no big deal, but the trip there is totally worth it. There's lots of Joshua trees in the beginning, then you get into an area with more rock formations. The last 0.6 miles has deeper sand, but it's mixed with some gravel so it's not too bad to walk through. I did this on Tuesday, November 19th and it wasn't crowded at all. Nice, peaceful hike. I'd certainly do it again.

Really fun and scenic hike. The trail gets sandy in spots and you walk in a wash most of the last mile or so. This was one of my favorite hikes in the park.

Well marked, moderate terrain trail. Sand softened as you progressed toward end point. Great landscape photo opportunities. This trail is about the journey.. not the end. There was only one spot to get shade from a large rock. Otherwise you are in the sun.

Fun out and back. Very flat. Go early to avoid direct sun.

We all loved this hike! Great scenery, amazing rocks, Joshua Trees, wildflowers, fairly easy trail but last mile or so is really sandy and it ends up in your shoes, we found a lovely shady spot for lunch. Thankful for the breeze as it was quite warm and sunny. So glad we picked this hike!

Spectacular! This trail was all about the mountains and boulders. Also, everything was in bloom! When we reached the Willow Hole, the huge willows were in bloom, and covered with bees. Not a challenging hike, but so worth it!!

Giving it a four for what i hope it would have been. Failed to encourage my kid to go further.

Surprisingly unique trail. Overall flat and an easy walk, but it's the change in environment that keeps it interesting. From Mohave into Colorado you see the transition of deserts along the hike that moves from Joshua tree forests to a sandy wash between marbled boulders. We went after a particularly rainy period so there was still a small stream of water to follow along the last sandy mile which kept the hike technically fun. I recommend this trail for someone wanting a non traditional jtnp hike.

I would recommend this trail. We just went on March 3rd and there were some blooms starting. A lot of the Joshua trees were beginning to bloom. Decently long hike but it’s on mostly level terrain. A lot of it is soft sand so make sure to prepare for that wish supportive shoes. There were a lot of rock formations along the way to climb on and rest or eat a snack. There was some water along the trail that wasn’t easily avoided but will likely be dried up soon unless there’s another big storm. There were a few watering holes along the way with two bigger ones at the end. Pretty foliage that was unique for the area because of it being mostly along a water way like more trees and grass.

Not a strenuous hike - nice stroll mostly thru a sandy wash. Couldn’t quite make it to the end due to failing flight. Good mix of flat terrain with Joshua trees and mini boulder canyons. Not crowded but there were a few other hikers on a Sunday evening.

Nice hike. Started early to avoid the crowds. Great winter warm up hike. No shade so be prepared. Water at the tail end of the hike with the recent rains. Definitely do this one again.

Flat trail that is easy to follow. Cold and windy day - Snowed night before. Last mile turns into a stream when there is rain / snow. Need waterproof boots to finish.

Beautiful hike, very flat but good mileage for a moderate hike. WINDY, it was quite cold in February with the winds but still enjoyable. We went about a week after a heavy rain and there was a lot of water on the trail, waterproof boots were a lifesaver, especially with it being so cold. Get there early to avoid crowds.

Very beautiful enigmatic landscape. This trail really showcases the plants and rocky mountains that grace the horizon of JT. The wash had water since it had rained the day before creating many fun obstacles. Thankfully we were wearing waterproof shoes but decided to just walk through the wash barefoot on the way back. Didn’t give the trail five stars because the end point at willow hole was anti climactic, this trail is all about the journey. The trip there is the reward, don’t expect a glistening pretty oasis at the end :P
