We really like this hike. Today we Arrived at 9:00 am but a car (Jaguar ) had a smashed drivers window. A crowbar was on the ground beside it. We did not want to risk another parking lot break in. We did not feel comfortable and decided to chose another trail up highway 74.

Trail needs better markers. I had to use all trails to know where to go.

This was a great hike! Most of the trail follows the dry river bed, skirting the mountains. About halfway through it seem like it’s going to be like an out and back but it starts to ascend. You’ll get to the top and have an amazing view of the snow-covered mountains and everything in between. At this point the trail is dirt and small rocks. Note that the sign will say Willis Palm trail but you’ll need to stay left to skirt the side of the mountain which will lead you back to the trailhead. Excellent hike!

Go counterclockwise. First mile is deep sand then very rocky. Signs are not that great. Thank goodness for AllTrails map!

Went May 9, 2019. My age: 57. Outbound going up the hill is better than the way back in the dry, sandy riverbed type terrain. No breeze down there, but nice breeze on the ascent side. A good walk/hike. The Willis Palms Oasis is nice as a treat when you complete the walk/hike.

If you do this trail, go counter clock wise and add Hermans and skip the other side of the loop; it’s flat, boring and thick sand to walk in. The views on the ridge are very nice. There are better choices than this hike.

Out to top of Herman’s Hike and back.

Really enjoyed this hike and went on it the following day the opposite way. I would recommend taking the right and going up to wash on to the class and then hiking across the Cliff and then down.

Just a quick out ‘n back along the ridge (rather than the loop) on a very windy day!

Did out ‘n back rather than the loop (which we found previously to be too sandy). Added Herman’s Hike towards Moon Country near the top.

It was nothing amazing but we still enjoyed it. We were surprised by the structures, or what was left of them, that were above the palm trees. Not clear how one would have brought up the materials to build there or why. Trees were burned but still alive. Decent short hike and not too many other hikers.
