A herd of bison! A barnyard petting zoo! A historic mansion! An Old West town, complete with trading post! An oak-shaded picnic area! What's not to like?
Great intro hike for the kids, lots to see and do.
Good up.. got lost down
Good trail for a short hike. I went early afternoon and it was warm for a winter day. Seems like it would be really beautiful in the morning

This is a nice historical site with a paved path great for pushing a stroller if you want to bring your little ones along.
Good for a quick workout. Mostly fire roads. Steep ascent and descent. From the parking lot, follow the Nature Trail up to the WS Hart Mansion. The trail is a little confusing near the top; but all paths lead to the mansion. Behind the mansion (near the bathrooms) follow the dirt road. This will take you to the ridgeline with some great views of Newhall and Stevenson Ranch. There is also some interesting rock foundations from years gone by. Follow the road to Bison Rd, which is a steep descent. It's mostly dry and sunny, but there are a few opportunities for shade. There is a treat at the bottom as Bison Rd ends at an actual herd of Bison. The trail ends behind a senior center. Follow Market Street back to Newhall Ave and turn right back towards the park.
