It is 67.79 miles not 62 - I did this hike in 7 sections mostly out and back so technically I did it twice. LOL. It is beautiful but difficult. It may not seem steep compared to the bigger mountains East of LA but the trail will drop you into a canyon and back to the top again once or twice in a 10 mile section. One 15 mile section had the same elevation gain as doing Mnt Wilson. Be careful during the summer months because some sections have no shade and get very hot. Only a few places to get water refills and not all the trails are easily marked. Someone died over the summer on one of the trails leading off the backbone. The views are gorgeous especially in the early morning hours as the sun rises over the ocean. Can’t wait to do it again, maybe as an overnighted.
