Nice easy trail that runs along the Kern River. Intended on taking this the full 14 miles but the trail was very overgrown and near impassable at the 6 mile mark. Though a beautiful, relaxing trek, there is a bit of road noise from the cars along the riverside road which was a bit distracting.

SNAKES! Fell off the trail at some point and ended up on another but it circled back to whiskey flat. So if it happens to you you’re ok. Definitely came across a rattlesnakes but only 1 thank god. It’s a beautiful trail. Lots of lowers at this time.

Did a recording of the entire trail from kernville to fairview (14.7 miles). The first 5 miles was pretty well maintained. It started getting overgrown after that. It’s a pretty flat trail until mile 10 where it turns inland. Lots of ticks out this time of year - check yourselves and your pets (I had several on me).

Went for some fresh air and outside time with my active senior parents and my two dogs. It was beautiful with all the wildflowers and fresh air. We did close to 3 miles round trip. Came across a few other families, some bicyclists and some horses with riders. There’s a rock bridge crossing over the river - not difficult, but it is rocky so just be cautious. It was too cold for snakes yesterday but it IS their time of year so watch out. Make sure to pack out your own trash and take care of our outdoors!

This trail is definitely best done this time of year (Winter/Spring) because of the lack of shade. There are some nice views of the mountains in the distance and occasionally the river. At the moment there are parts that are severely overgrown, but I believe volunteers are planning on working on it next week. It's a nice trail for beginners (be careful crossing the rock bridge) or if you're looking for something during the off season.

The trail was in great condition! The creek crossing at Bull Run Creek has a rock bridge. Thank you to whoever did that.

First time hiking the Whiskey Flat Trail. Although it’s easy, it is not stroller friendly due to the scattered boulders and narrowness in some parts. We have twins so my husband carried one and I carried one in our packs. The trail required effort but it was not difficult.

Easy mostly flat hike alongside the river. Perfect even in winter.

Beautiful day for a hike. The bridge was washed out and Bull Run Creek was up so I switched to the Bull Run Loop Hike and visited pool 1 and the smelter ruins. Beautiful day!

Easy trail and dogs loved it. Were able to cool off at the creek. It’s the end of June and the creek was passable with the right shoes. Hiked two miles in and made it far enough and high enough to catch some beautiful views. Next time we will start the hike much earlier cause it got too hot and there is really no shade after the creek.

We had a good hike today. We also had to turn around at Bull Creek. We were with our dog and it was flowing pretty good and not really easy to pass. We went on another trail alongside the creek. The views alone are worth this trip. This was my second time in 2 yrs but it’s so nice and the trail is really easy and wide usually.

had to stop at bull run Creek because water was to high to cross. But worth the hike. Very pretty.

Only made it to the creek less than a mile in because the creek is so high due to all the rain this winter. There’s a rope for crossing but it’s probably about mid-thigh deep for the average person. Will be back later on in the spring with some better footwear to cross!

We hiked to Bull Run Creek and it was a fairly easy trail. There are a lot of side trails along the way. Watch your step as the path was pretty rocky. We went when it was raining so it was slippery. Still had fun! Love the Mountain View!

We hiked on a warm December day. Beautiful colors plants and foliage. Great views mountains surrounding. You can get down to the water in some places. Nice easy rolling hike.

Did the full 14 miles from the trailhead outside Kernville to Fairview (2/19-2/21). Easy to follow for the most part with a few exceptions. Trail is quite overgrown in certain areas which briefly caused us to lose the trail at one point. While there is no crazy elevation gain, there is a decent amount of up and down, especially in the latter 7 miles of the hike. The trail is also fairly exposed, without much shade, so I could see it being much more strenuous during the hotter parts of the year. Overall though, very pretty and scenic hike with nice views of the Kern river. Would definitely hike it again sometime.

This trail is steep, has some very nice views and the stream is tranquil. It is approximately a 6 hour hike if you plan on going all the way to the cave.

Great view of the Kern river. Prepare yourself for a long hike. I wore the wrong shoes and my feet were in so much pain.

Very flat and easy first mile to the creek. Mostly flat trail with few inclines. Very little shade. Dog friendly. Watch out for poison oak and snakes.

Great trail for all fitness levels. You must have good balance to cross the creek since there is too much water flowing to cross in the water. Our lab was able to cross but did struggle with the strong current. We saw a coyote too!
