Amazing views at the top of Big Table Top Mountain. Park at the end of Wellbarn road, there is a gate. Go through the gate and follow the trail until it splits, stay left at the fork. If you stay right, it goes down by the river. You will go through two more gates along the way. The trail is very wide, like a dirt road, the whole way. The last mile or so is steep and a great workout.

Nice trail if you are going for the workout and not the views. You’ll feel the burn on this one for sure, and even more so if you don’t pack sun screen and go after 9am. You are blessed with a decent view at the end overlooking the San Joaquin River. Also a little picnic table for you to recharge before your descent!

We actually did 3 hours and 45 minutes. I forgot to records. The trail is hard. I stopped many many times on my ways up. I like this trail. I will do it again.

This trail was cool! Bring lots of water. The only difficult part of the hike was after the first gate it became all incline all the way up to the peak. But the view was worth it for the hike. Definitely recommend!

Amazing, steep climb, but the views at the top are spectacular. Very exposed most of the way, so bring a hat and plenty of water!

Park at the end of wellbarn road and squeeze your way through the gate (currently closed). Quite steep towards the end where most of the elevation gain is. Beautiful views at the top with a bench that overlooks the valley below. Well paved. Recommend hiking sticks to save your knees on the way down!

Definitely a tough trek. We’re experienced backpackers and hikers, we decided to give it a go later in the AM. We got up 1/4 of the way to the summit and decided to turn around. Way too hot, and very steep climbing. The way in is not bad with great views and it’s down hill - but keep in mind you’ll be making a big climb to reach the top, and then you have to climb the way you came in. Lots of elevation, tough go. Go in the early AM. Lots of cows which meant lots of dung, and lots of flies! Good views, worth it if you like a challenge.

Great hike with some amazing views. I would strongly recommend starting early this time of year. On the way back, it was pretty warm. No snakes, but lots of cows on the way back.

Really like this trail! Sure gave my heart a workout! Gently going down the first 2 miles before the fork that will lead you to the right (down to the water) or left up to the table mountain top. We went up because that was the plan all along. That really gave me a workout! Somewhat out of shape. These walks around the neighborhood didn’t do much to help. But it was only a mile up and well worth the lunch. For me, if the hike was too easy, it doesn’t make the picnic worthwhile. This was. Will definitely return and maybe go down to the lake on the way back. Oh and cows. Definitely had some near the top today and one of the mamas really didn’t like that we were intruding. The other cows including two that seemed older and were bigger made way for us but not her. She stared us down, head slightly bowed, with her calf drinking milk and even stomped her front hoof a few times, ready to charge. She was not playing! We did make it down. Alive. It was fun! Bring water

Awesome but definitely challenging hike. First two miles on the road are mostly down and easy. Then you veer left to go up and man is it steep. Definitely not easy but worth it. Top of the mountain is beautiful!! Went at 3pm, only saw one snake and it was not a rattle snake. Bring lots of water, challenging but great trails.

A perfect day - flowers blooming, slight breeze, grass still green, on this late Spring day with birds active.

Beautiful hike but look out for rattle snakes. I was one step away from stepping on a baby rattler before my husband pushed me back. Snake tracks all over the road. Absolutely no water for dogs so be sure to bring some with you. Pretty hot and dry but beautiful scenery.

No sign to let you know road dead ends into a gate. No place to turn around if you come with a trailer. Even if you park on the side of the road, you wouldn't be able to fit horses past the gate. There is only a small opening that people are squeezing past. This area is closed.

We started at 815 and only ran into 2 people. Overall good hike and great workout as that last mile going up is pretty steep. Make sure when you park you are all the way off the road, they ticket even if you tire is just slightly on the road.

Rain on the tabletop today but great hiking weather. A hard push up the big hill (1 - 1.5 miles), nice hiking the rest of the way. Flowers in bloom covering all areas. Few cows on top.
