Great hike. The only thing I would say it needs is pointers or signs in the trail.

A nice variety of wildflowers have already grown back. A large adult rattlesnake was in the brush just west of the west side of the loop, about 200 feet north from the segment that leads back to Hidden Canyon Road. It didn’t rattle when I approached until a jet passing overhead adding more ground vibrations. This field area is between the trail and Hidden Canyon Road where many people park. Other hikers have recently seen rattlesnakes in this field too including at the parking area, so be careful even on the street.

Lots of wildflowers now and likely through summer. Western Rattlesnake in the brush along the west path near the trailhead.

Hiked the trail 5/22 and it was nice, but we did encounter some creatures. Saw many lizards, bugs, blue jay, roadrunner (all no biggie), but we did see a long and skinny garter snake. We were crossing a small ravine and turned the corner to see it lying on the trail around 11am. Our surprised presence did scare it away. Other then the surprised snake find, the trail offers views of Anaheim Hills and while some parts are still burned from the fire, new life is growing.

Excellent vievs of the hills and close Santa Ana mountains. Because of the rains, at this time (4/30/19) everything is green with yellow shades of the California poppies! Makes you feel you are in a different place. Easy hike, very secluded, so not to many people in the trails. Just mountain bikers and few joggers.

It’s a good hike .. ended up doing about 4.1 miles instead due to the over grown

The trail is currently being cleared of the overgrown vegetation from the rains. Although it’s closed many visitors (myself included) passed the sign and headed towards the trail. Be careful around the workers with machinery and let them know your are present. The plants on the trail are beginning to dry so the scenery isn’t as pretty but the good news is the trail is clear and easy to navigate. First time hear and honestly it’s a good trail! Cannot wait to return!

This trail is absolutely beautiful, there’s poppies everywhere and lots of butterflies and greenery! It’s nice if you want a bit of a longer hike and the inclines aren’t too tough. I would say it is good for a beginner but it really just depends on the person. Free parking and dog friendly!

This trail is fantastic, ups and downs and full of beautiful landscape. You’ll need sunscreen and water since it’s all open. Great for a trail run or even for those nice trail walks.

Scenic trail throughout. Green hills as far as the eye can see. Lots of colorful golden poppies sprouting along trail. Trails are well maintained. Got a little muddy in spots from all of the rain, but not difficult to maneuver. At the beginning when the trail breaks into three paths, we took the one on the left hand side. Be careful in the first 1/2 mile, we spotted multiple coyotes in the area. Was hard to spot them through the tall grass. Liked that there weren’t too many people, even on a weekend. Doggos got a little muddy but had a blast!

this is a great trail - lots of variety, ups and downs, and beautiful views. I'm taking a star off because there is NO shade anywhere on this trail: you'll be in full sun the entire time.

This was a really nice hike for my wife and myself. It was a little muddy in places due to rain yesterday. We really enjoyed the beautiful views!

Great hike, and young ages can do it too. When you get to the top, there’s a nice view of Irvine, and the ocean. It’s quite green despite the fires, but you can see where the damage is. Either way, next time I plan to mtb when I’m on this trail.

I would have given this trail more then 1 star however the recent fires have destroyed the trail. it used to be beautiful. lots of colorful flowers, wildlife, u could see the canyons clear across. now it's just burnt. the trail seems to have disappeared. it's pretty much unrecognizable now. the one nice thing to see was random new growth here and there. if u walk to the right more towards the houses u will see all the damage to the houses and how it jumped one house and got the house next to it. so sad.

Beautiful scenery. I’d definitely be back for some more amazing views. We went on a Tuesday morning and there wasn’t much activity which was lovely; however, I wouldn’t encourage anyone to hike alone. We didn’t see any wildlife but we did see dog, and possibly bobcat and coyotes paw prints. Surely this hike is easy to complete, but enough to sweat a little.

Very nice trail but the recent fire and drought have left this area in rough shape. I really enjoyed the rolling nature of this loop as it broke up the trail into a handful of short climbs that are just enough to get a little burn in your legs. I don't recommend doing g this hike solo as there a re definite signs of coyotes and mountain lions in the area. The recent fire has left no tree cover and there is only 1 shared area on the entire loop so best not to do this in the heat of the day. overall I enjoyed it and plan on doing it more often before or after work. plan on this hike taking about 1.5 hours to complete.
