If you are looking for an easy afternoon walk to explore Wawona consider the Wawona Meadow Loop. Located conveniently next to the Wawona Hotel, the trailhead is just across Highway 41. Compared to most other hikes in Yosemite, this is about as easy as they come: it's a level stroll around the meadow, and most of it us under tree cover which makes it a perfect hike for the afternoon when the sun is out and temperatures are at their hottest. If you are looking for some wildlife, consider going during the "golden hours" of the day, around dawn or dusk, when you may spot some deer grazing in the grass. While you won't break much of a sweat on this hike, it's a perfect way to end a day visiting Mariposa Grove, or to build up your appetite for dinner at the Wawona Hotel restaurant.

Great hike! Not steep at all. Muddy at places. Lots of horses and horse droppings. Beautiful meadow views with mountains in the background. Difficult to find the trail at the end but you can just follow the road.

Lovely walk, mostly flat with grey autumn views. We wandered as a family and took 2 hours. It was fun to read the placards about how the space has been used over the years.

A great, easy hike, compatible for those with disabilities. Beautiful with the Fall leaf shed. No issues with bugs, minimal horse road apples (poop). Gorgeous views of the meadows with all kinds of trees and shrubs. Loved it.

Very kid friendly. Interesting historical markers at different locations that describe the history of the meadow and the different ways it has evolved over time. Not much of a "hike", really a nice walk. Was pretty buggy when we were there in August. Lots of complaints about the horse manure...wasn't that bad. Just watch where you are going!

Less than 1 star..... turned around in less than 0.2 miles. Awful trail... horse poop everywhere. Yosemite sucks for lack of trails for dogs. Our dog leaves far less destructive path. BS trail recommendation from the NPS. Man I hate horses!

greta little trail with alot of potential, took my son on it today and he had a great time. Alot of trees have blown down over the path, so two times we had to get really close to the wrong edge to get around it, my son hit his head really hard walking under another one. alot of slippery pine needles, as well. hope it gets cleaned up soon so we can go back and really enjoy it.

Hubby and I were looking for a spot to do our run and enjoy our detour through Yosemite. This trail was ideal. We parked at the lodge and took off across the road and cut thru the gold course. We found the trail and enjoyed a picturesque run. the road was a mixture of pavement, sand, rock, and dirt. slight inclines but nothing strenuous. It was 3.6 miles and we were thru it in 45 minutes. The trail would be perfect for our children to join in next time.

Muddy and a small stream cutting off part of trail. Easy to cross.

Easy trail. Pretty scenery, but nothing spectacular. Lots of horses, manure, and mosquitoes. There are better choices in Yosemite.

Great for a flat walk or a very casual bike ride. Too early or too late, and you'll likely see a bear coming down the hill for dinner.

great easy loop to do if you have a dog. there was no one else on the trail so we let him off leash and run through the meadows. check out toulumne grove also if you have a dog.

In all fairness we didn't do the entire loop, but I wouldn't waste much time here. There are much more beautiful hikes in Yosemite. THis one even borders a golf course. If your time is limited, keep driving.

This is a great training trail run or just a nice, scenic walk. On one of the runs with my partner, we had a baby bear run across the trail in front of us and up a tree....we kept going, because we knew momma wasn't too far away. We also encountered a rattle snake, slithering by. It can be a bit of a challenge to run the whole loop in the dead of summer, but definitely doable.
