Great hike! Barely anyone there, great views of the south side of the mountains on the way up. Some views of the desert on the fire road.
We planned to do Cooper Canyon waterfall however ended up on this trail. Glad it happened. The trail is absolutely beautiful however you are walking through snow more than 3/4 of the trail. I would recommend poles and snow hiking boots, or clamp on’s. The snow is pretty slippery and slushy in some areas. We made it to the saddle area right before the summit however the snow got so thick it was over our ankles. The trail became less visible at this point and you could see foot prints scrambling in different directions. Had lunch at the saddle. Lots of rocks to sit on and enjoy your time. The trail is listed as moderate however it’s fairly comfortable. You are hiking at about 7000 feet so keep that in mind.Absolutely beautiful scenery. We’re definitely coming back to do the loop when the snow melts a little bit more. Pretty slippery going down and almost landed on my butt once. We had poles and regular hiking boots PS we found the trail head to Cooper Canyon Trail afterwards.
