Ward Creek Via Rawhide Trail is a 7.4 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Tahoe City, California that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, trail running, and mountain biking and is best used from June until October.
Beautiful hike through the Ward Creek loop. The trail markings are a little thin the deeper one gets, which makes the trail a 3-star vs a 4-star. Pretty shaded areas and some nice wild flowers, along with a fun downhill stretch on the TRT into the Granlibakken ropes/zip line course. The Truckee River portion is short, but offers a few great spots for jumping in to take a swim!
Awesome route for a trail run. Tough climb to start, but quiet and serene area make it worthwhile. Spurs off main trail are a little hard to spot, but there are trail markers. Blue disks and some stripes (black and yellow) on trees are helpful. Great view of Lake Tahoe and Granlibakken.
We went up to do the page meadow trail. Looped into SilverTip. We loved it. Spent 4 hours here. Though climb at the beginning from the Rawhide St start but tons of options once you get up that first mile incline. Definitely glad we had partial and full suspension... Tons of rocks but loved it!
We did a shorter hike looping around in here. You can walk up behind the resort here - they have an expansive high ropes course that was fun to look at! The trails behind it connect to the peak trail for a longer trip.
