Short but beautiful hike. Minimal trail traffic (hiked midday Friday). Sun was strong — bring water.

Beautiful scenic views all around. Start early and bring plenty of water. Most of the trail is exposed and very hot during summer months. We want to return in spring when the falls are flowing more and cooler weather

Good out and back, mostly rock on the trail and very hot in the reservoir but plenty of shade along the way - just about 5 miles round trip from the lower parking lot

Beautiful scenic view of a just speechless reservoir an mountain backdrop. One of themost beautiful sights I’ve seen in a while.! There was some lose rocks along the way but it was all manageable. The sun did come out on the way to the falls but their happen to be a nice breeze yesterday that saved it from being to bad of a sunny hike. the water fall wasn’t huge as I expected but still a beautiful experience.

I did this hike on June 27. This trail gets very hot. There's barely any shade and the gates don't even open til 8, so the sun is already out. It gets pretty crowded later in the day so if you want the waterfall to yourself, start early.

Great hike despite the hot weather. It's not a very challenging hike aside from the heat, but the beauty of the lake makes it worth it. It's also cool to see the dam that supplies SF with water. One thing to know is that the gate into the park gate doesn't open until 8am, and it's another 20 minutes to the trail, so you can't start this hike very early to beat the heat. We arrived at the gate at 7:40 and had to wait. Bring lots of water if you're going in summer. It was over 90 degrees by the time we left, at 12:30.

A great trail, especially for the family. The waterfall is absolutely gorgeous. We love hiking this trail in the spring time. Bring sunscreens, snacks, and plenty of water. Happy hiking!

my name is Emel and i am a kid. i went to wapama falls on July 2nd, 2020. it was very hot . there was only a few spots where there was shade . we brought 2 backpacks full of water and, when me and my parent came back to the car, we had already finished both of them. my advice is to bring a lot of water and, some snacks to eat. also the falls is not 4.5 miles. it is actually 5.6 miles . But, the falls were beautiful. if the trail was not so hot, i would have gave five stars. nothing else is bad about this trail except it's hot . if you are going in the spring, it might be less hot. but, i really enjoyed the trail and the falls tho!

Perfect time to do this hike! So many different kinds of wild flowers everywhere. Entire lenght of trail was gorgeous different types of landscapes. Hiked it with my 5 and 11 yr olds and clocked it at 5.3 miles and 1.5 hr each way. Must be back to car by 4:30pm to make it out before gates close every evening. Open without reservation but might call ahead to check just in case it changes. Without reservation to Yosemite entrance fee onyl allows you into hetch hetchy and not the rest of Yosemite.

The drive was a little crazy but worth it. We got there between 10:30-11, which was a mistake because it was already so hot. Unfortunately, there was not a lot of shade either . However, the end was worth it. So we stayed for about 1 hour and a half to eat our lunch and enjoy the scenery. On the way back, the sun was not friendly either and the incline was a little tough especially with my 7 year old daughter but she got through it . We would def do it again, but will start early this time (between 8:00-8:30).

Probably one of the most beautiful hikes I've been to. Went in early May two years and had a little overcast with spots of sun so it made our hike with no shade enjoyable without the heat. Went early morning to beat the crowds (began hike at 7am) and got to enjoy the trail and waterfalls all to ourselves. Absolutely beautiful to hike along side the dam, got to climb up some rocks, walked through rushing waterfalls and streams, and was guided by lavenders growing along side parts of the trail...overall my favorite and most memorable hike, I'm due to go back!

My first time here and it’s a pleasant surprise. The trail varies and there are spot with shade and stretches with no shade. The Wapama Falls is a treat. The view of the reservoir is great. The tunnel is creepy but pretty cool to start and end a hike. Kid friendly trail as it moderate. It’s a 1000 ft elevation gain up to Wapama Falls.

hiked on 2/15. forecast was for 63f but felt much warmer in the sun. Beautiful day in February! No snow on the trail. There's water in the tunnel but room to walk around it. Falls are gorgeous! Easy well established trail with no steep sections. Highly recommend.

This trail is an amazing one, it is in the sun a lot of the time so in summer it can be very hot. There are two or three stops for water if it is the right season. Overall beautiful but can become a little congested, off season is best time to go.

This hike offers a great view of the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir the whole way up to Wopama Falls... this time of year the flow is minimal but still manages to cascade down the 1000ft to the bridges...hiked past to Hetch Hetchy Dome base and continued on to within about a mile of Rancheria Creek...good balance of elevation and downhill hiking...got in around 1130 and got back to the car at 430...felt just like being in the Alpine Valleys with the sheer rock walls reaching right down into the water and while the damn was a cool bit of engineering to walk over...I can only imagine what Muir must have seen before the valley was flooded.
