According to Access Northern California (http://accessnca.org/access-northern-california/explore/explore-detail-view/?site_id=89): Just north of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, Mount Tamalpais State Park rises majestically from the heart of Marin County. Its deep canyons and sweeping hillsides are cloaked with cool redwood forests, oak woodlands, open grasslands, and sturdy chaparral. Most of it inaccessible to wheelchair riders. At East Peak, there is a visitor center with information, snacks, and souvenirs, and a “gravity car barn” celebrates the old Mount Tamalpais Scenic Railway. Down below, the 3,750-person capacity Mountain Theater hosts outdoor plays and astronomy programs. Visitors may camp in several locations or stay in rustic cabins perched on a bluff at Steep Ravine and (on private property) at West Point Inn. The difficulty rating for this trail is based on what the experience may be like for a wheelchair or stroller user. Accessibility: There is designated handicapped-accessible parking with a firm surface and no more than 2% cross slope by the start of the trail. A wheelchair-accessible restroom is located by the Verna Dunshee trailhead at East Peak. The roadway down to the trailhead and restroom is steep but the ramp in front of the wheelchair-accessible parking has a gentle grade. There are wheelchair-accessible picnic tables with a firm and stable path and surface and at least 27 inches of knee clearance. The Visitor Center and Gravity Barn are accessible and open on weekends. This paved asphalt loop trail travels the perimeter of Mount Tamalpais’s east peak, affording stunning panoramic views. The typical width is at least four feet and the grade is estimated to be mostly gentle (5% or less) except for a very steep uphill section over 12% at 0.3 miles when going counterclockwise. Mobility equipment or stroller users may need assistance in the steep section or may want to avoid it for safety.

Definitely a tough climb. Lots of bugs. But definitely worth it. Suggest going up Railroad Grade to take some of the incline at a decreased incline.

A fun hike with few people until you reach the summit parking area. Lots of. Great views and being able to hike through and above Carl was wonderful. By the time we reached the top he was opening up for some nice views.
